Olympo Season 2: Will Netflix Renew the Spanish Sports Drama?

Netflix’s latest Spanish sensation Olympo has captured audiences worldwide with its intense portrayal of elite athletes pushing their limits. As fans eagerly await news about the show’s future, speculation about Olympo Season 2 continues to grow. Here’s everything we know about the potential renewal.

Olympo Season 1 Performance Overview

The Spanish sports drama premiered on June 20, 2025, starring Clara Galle, Agustín Della Corte, and Nuno Gallego. The series follows young athletes at an elite high-performance center, where competition reaches dangerous extremes.

The show has been eligible for two weeks in the global top 10 and has featured both times, having now clocked up 10.10 million views between June 15th and June 29th, demonstrating strong viewer engagement despite mixed critical reception.

Renewal Rumors and Industry Reports

While Netflix hasn’t officially confirmed Olympo Season 2, industry insiders suggest positive developments. There has already been speculation about an early renewal at Netflix, with news first surfacing on the TeleAudiencias blog, indicating the streaming giant may proceed with future seasons.

The show’s performance metrics support renewal prospects. In week 2, the show rocketed in viewership, rising 115% from week 1, and although it placed second, it was second to Squid Game season 3, which speaks volumes about its competitive positioning.

What Makes Olympo Renewal Likely?

Strong Marketing Investment: Netflix deployed significant promotional resources beyond Spain, with the main US account promoting the series multiple times across their global marketing network.

Target Demographic Appeal: The show targets the same audience as Netflix’s hit series Elite, positioning it strategically within their Spanish content portfolio.

Competitive Performance: Despite facing competition from major titles like Squid Game, Olympo maintained strong viewership numbers and growth rates.

Potential Release Timeline for Season 2

Based on production patterns, filming for Olympo season 1 started in July 2024 and the show debuted just 11 months later. If renewed, fans could expect Olympo Season 2 around summer 2026, following similar production schedules.

The series’ eight-episode format and established cast could facilitate faster production cycles, potentially shortening the wait time between seasons.

Cast and Story Continuation

The stellar ensemble cast, including Clara Galle from Raising Voices and Nuno Gallego from Elite, provides strong foundation for future seasons. The show’s format allows for both character development and new athlete introductions, offering creative flexibility for season 2 storylines.

What to Expect Next

Netflix typically evaluates renewal decisions based on completion rates, engagement metrics, and overall viewership performance. The streaming giant takes a few weeks to confirm the possibility of the renewal, as it tends to track the viewership and critics’ opinions.

For the latest updates on Olympo Season 2, fans should monitor Netflix’s official announcements and follow the series’ social media channels for breaking news.

The combination of strong viewership growth, strategic marketing investment, and positive industry reports suggests Olympo Season 2 renewal is increasingly likely, though official confirmation remains pending.
