She’s played complex, resilient women before — and her potential next role might be her most compelling yet. Reports confirm Lee Bo Young is in talks to lead ENA’s upcoming drama, tentatively titled “Divorce Investigator Hong Mal Geum,” with her agency J,WIDE-COMPANY confirming she’s “positively reviewing” the offer.
The premise digs into unusually specific, real-world territory. The drama follows a mother of three who, after being blindsided by her husband’s affair and the divorce that followed, reinvents herself as a family court investigator. It’s a real profession in Korea’s legal system — someone tasked with conducting fact-finding investigations for judges and mediators, examining everything from divorce and adoption to guardianship and child abuse cases. Their findings often directly shape a court’s final ruling.
Drawing inspiration from actual cases handled by real investigators, the series promises a grounded blend of courtroom drama and family comedy, following its lead as she uncovers the truth behind complicated domestic disputes while helping fractured families find some form of resolution.
If she signs on, Lee Bo Young would play Hong Mal Geum, a sharp-instinct investigator who divorced the husband she “wanted to kill” and has since raised her three children solo — pushing forward through hardship with characteristic resilience.
