Divorce Investigator Hong Mal Geum: Overview

What’s the Story About?

The story follows Hong Mal Geum, who goes through a divorce and raises three children on her own. Using her background in psychology, she becomes a trainee family court investigator, a specialized public official who looks into family court matters such as divorce, adoption, guardianship and child abuse cases. Each case brings a new household and a new emotional challenge, and the show promises a comedic touch along the way.

Her own childhood in a divorced home gives her a rare understanding of what these families face.

A Rivalry With History

Lee Bo Young plays the title character. Opposite her, Kang Tae Oh plays Charles Kim, a lawyer who puts money ahead of the honor expected of his profession. Here’s the twist: he was the defense attorney for Hong Mal Geum’s ex-husband during her divorce, and he won a favorable outcome for the at-fault party. Their shared past promises sparks, friction and probably some unexpected teamwork.

Why It’s Worth Watching?

The mix of humor, courtroom-style tension and real family struggles makes this one stand out. A heroine who turns her painful experience into purpose is the kind of story that keeps viewers hooked. Fans of both actors have plenty to look forward to.
