Leanne Season 3: Will Netflix Renew the Sitcom After a Rocky Season 2 Debut?

Leanne Morgan’s multi-cam comedy just wrapped its second season, but instead of a straightforward renewal celebration, fans are left watching viewership charts nervously. Here’s where things actually stand with Leanne Season 3.

Leanne Season 3: Renewal Status

Why the Renewal Isn’t Guaranteed

Season 1 of Leanne comfortably broke into Netflix’s Global Top 10 English-language TV list. Season 2, despite having a shorter episode count — which technically makes it easier to rack up viewing hours per episode — completely missed that same chart in its opening days. That gap is a real warning sign, especially since Netflix’s Views metric divides total hours watched by runtime, meaning a shorter season should, in theory, chart more easily if the audience shows up.

That said, global misses don’t always spell doom. Regionally, Leanne still performed solidly, holding a Top 5 spot in the United States and Canada for several days, alongside chart placements across Australia, Ireland, and parts of the Caribbean. Comedies with strong domestic followings have survived on that alone before, and Leanne’s multicamera sitcom format keeps production costs relatively low compared to VFX-heavy dramas — a factor that often works in a show’s favor during renewal decisions.

What Story Would Season 3 Tell?

Spoilers ahead for Season 2. The current season left Leanne single after turning down a proposal from her boyfriend Andrew and sharing an unexpected moment with her ex-husband Bill. Leanne Morgan has been vocal about wanting Andrew’s storyline to continue, even while acknowledging real-life scheduling complications, since actor Tim Daly is preparing to launch a new NBC sitcom this fall. Morgan has also hinted that Season 3 would keep leaning into relatable themes around caregiving and starting over later in life — threads that resonated strongly with audiences in Season 2.
