In a major transfer development, reports confirm that Kyle Walker’s anticipated departure from Manchester City to AC Milan is officially sealed. The 34-year-old England international will soon begin his next chapter with the Serie A giants after an agreement was finalized this week.

The transfer, which will see Walker join Milan on loan for the remainder of the 2024-2025 season, promises to be an exciting move for both the player and the club.

A New Chapter for Walker

After an illustrious career at Manchester City, Kyle Walker is set to make a fresh start in Italy. Milan will soon unveil the English full-back as a new signing, with the deal officially moving forward. Initially, Walker was considering a move to Inter Milan, but talks regarding his wage demands caused the negotiations to collapse. This paved the way for AC Milan to swoop in, securing a deal for the experienced right-back.

In addition to his loan move, a clause has been inserted in the contract allowing Milan the option to buy Walker outright in the summer for a fee of €5 million. This move represents a shift for Walker, who will now focus on revitalizing his career in one of Europe’s most prestigious leagues.

Contract Terms and Wage Deal

Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that the terms of the transfer have been finalized, with AC Milan agreeing to cover Walker’s substantial wages of £150,000 per week. The English defender’s contract with Manchester City was nearing its conclusion, but with one year remaining, the 34-year-old will play out the season in Serie A. Upon his arrival, Walker is set to sign a new contract with Milan, securing an annual wage of €4 million.

This lucrative deal is expected to be a win-win for both sides. Walker, who has been a key figure for City under Pep Guardiola, will bring much-needed experience and leadership to Milan’s defense. Milan, on the other hand, will gain a top-tier player, solidifying their backline for the duration of the loan.

Milan’s Pursuit and Final Agreement

AC Milan had already reached a contractual agreement with Walker and his representatives for a deal lasting until 2027. However, the key issue remaining was ensuring the buy option with Manchester City. According to reports from Calciomercato, the deal now includes a €5 million buy clause for the summer, which will allow Milan to make the transfer permanent if they wish.

With Milan eager to strengthen their squad and Walker seeking a new challenge, this loan move represents a fresh opportunity for both parties. Walker’s arrival in Italy is expected to be formalized with a medical in the coming days. If all goes to plan, the defender could make his debut for Milan before the month ends, with the official announcement expected imminently.

The Impact on Marcus Rashford’s Transfer Plans

Walker’s confirmed move to AC Milan has had ripple effects on other potential transfers, most notably Marcus Rashford’s future. AC Milan had previously shown interest in signing the Manchester United winger but were forced to abandon their pursuit due to Serie A regulations. According to league rules, Italian clubs are only permitted to sign one British player per season. As a result, Rashford’s chances of joining Milan have been dashed, leaving the England international with fewer options.

Reports indicate that Rashford may now turn his attention to a move to Barcelona, with the Catalan giants reportedly holding talks with his representatives about a potential loan transfer. While Rashford focuses on securing his own future, he has ramped up his training efforts to be in peak condition for Manchester United’s upcoming Europa League clash against Rangers.

Walker’s Role at Milan and What Lies Ahead

With the paperwork finalized, the excitement surrounding Walker’s move to AC Milan continues to grow. The seasoned full-back brings a wealth of experience and tactical knowledge, which will undoubtedly be valuable for Milan’s defensive unit. His quickness, decision-making, and leadership on the field will add depth to a side aiming to compete at the highest levels in both Serie A and Europe.

Once Walker’s transfer is finalized and he undergoes his medical, fans can expect him to slot into Milan’s defense, possibly making his debut before the month’s end. With his contract at City running out next summer, Walker’s next career step could see him make his move to Milan permanent, setting the stage for a new chapter in both his and Milan’s journey.
