Kantara Isn’t Done Yet — Rishab Shetty Confirms Chapter 2 Is Already Being Written

Just when fans thought they could catch their breath after “Kantara: Chapter 1,” Rishab Shetty is already back at his desk, pen in hand, plotting the next chapter of the universe that made him a household name.

Speaking to Variety India, the actor-director confirmed that writing for “Kantara: Chapter 2” has officially begun. “I need to do that. I cannot keep quiet about my directorial work. I find peace of mind and happiness when I am doing it,” he shared, revealing that his team of writers is already deep into the process.

It’s a rare admission of pure creative compulsion — not driven by box office pressure, but by the storyteller’s own need to keep building this world.

Rishab Shetty: What’s Confirmed So Far on Kantara?

Why This Update Matters

“Kantara: Chapter 1” wasn’t just another hit — it became one of the defining films to shape Indian cinema in recent years, blending folklore, spirituality, and grounded performances into a genre of its own. A sequel confirmation this early signals just how invested Shetty is in expanding that mythology rather than letting it fade after one successful run.

He’s also being deliberate about his acting slate, choosing to take on Jai Hanuman and The Pride of Bharat one at a time rather than juggling both — a signal that each project demands a distinct physical and emotional transformation.

With writing already underway, the Kantara universe is far from finished — and if history is any indication, Chapter 2 will be worth the wait.
