This familial connection places them in the extended Mukherjee-Samarth clan, one of Bollywood’s most prestigious film families.

Why People Think Kajol and Rani Mukherjee Are Sisters

Physical resemblance: Fans noticed similar features and mannerisms
Industry timing: Both rose to stardom around the same era

The Distance in Their Relationship

During their candid appearance on Koffee With Karan 8, both actresses addressed the “organic distance” between them in the 2000s. Kajol revealed they rarely met during childhood since she lived in town while Rani resided in Juhu. Rani added that she was closer to Kajol’s sister, Tanishaa Mukerji, and referred to Kajol as “Kajol didi” (elder sister) growing up.

This revelation shows that while Kajol and Rani Mukherjee are related as sisters would be in an extended family, their bond was more formal during their formative years.
