Jonah Scott on Voicing Legoshi in Beastars Final Season: “Legoshi Will Always Be With Me”

There are voice actors who play characters, and then there are voice actors who become them. For Jonah Scott, voicing Legoshi in Beastars was never just a job — it was a deeply personal, years-long journey that shaped his career and, by his own admission, a big part of who he is.

With the final season of Beastars now streaming on Netflix, Jonah sat down for a candid, emotional chat about what it meant to say goodbye to everyone’s favourite anxious grey wolf.

Jonah Scott & Beastars

Finding Legoshi’s Voice — And His Own

Jonah had actually read the Beastars manga before landing the role, which made the audition feel both exciting and nerve-wracking. He describes Legoshi’s voice as being in a “butter zone” between 18 and 21 — capable of flipping between vulnerability, quiet confidence, and even fleeting wisdom, depending on what the scene demands.

What makes his performance stand out isn’t a character voice trick. It’s simply Jonah performing — raw, grounded, and deeply human. He describes his early Season 1 work as slightly cautious, but by Season 2, once the trust between him and the director had been built, the performance became genuinely intimate. He wanted the audience to feel 10 feet away from Legoshi, not watching a spectacle from a distance.

Legoshi Grew — And So Did Jonah

Season 1 Legoshi is a nervous kid who lurks in theatre rafters, avoids eye contact, and doesn’t even feel comfortable with his own friends. The final season? He’s someone who has truly found himself — flawed, brave, and wonderfully human despite being a six-foot wolf.

Jonah points out that voicing the finale meant doing it for the last time, which hit differently. He toured Studio Orange in Japan — a privilege most English dub actors never get — and poured real emotion into the final recordings without screaming or injuring himself. Just raw, real performance.

On the Fandom — A Genuine Tribute

Jonah didn’t sidestep the furry community’s massive role in Beastars’ success — he celebrated it. He credits fans directly for supporting him financially when he first moved to LA. His message is clear: without them, neither his career nor the show’s prominence would exist at the level it does today.
