Jennifer Lopez Goes Makeup-Free as Twins Head to College: A New Chapter Begins

Jennifer Lopez is embracing a deeply personal transition as her twin children prepare to leave home for college. The singer, actress and entrepreneur recently appeared without makeup in a video for her JLo Beauty brand, while opening up about the everyday routines helping her adjust to a major change in family life.

Jennifer Lopez’s Makeup-Free Moment

In the beauty video, Lopez appeared makeup-free while preparing to begin her skincare routine. Rather than focusing solely on beauty products, she used the moment to talk about how familiar routines can offer a sense of stability during uncertain periods.

Lopez explained that she had been thinking about routines because her children were preparing to leave for college. Alongside skincare, she pointed to exercise and self-care as important parts of maintaining those daily habits.

The candid appearance offered fans a more natural glimpse of the star while also revealing the emotional significance behind a seemingly ordinary skincare routine.

Max and Oskar Prepare for College?

Lopez is entering the “empty nest” stage as her 18-year-old twins, Max and Oskar, prepare to begin college. She shares the twins with her former husband, singer Marc Anthony.

After nearly two decades of raising her children, their move into adulthood represents a significant shift in Lopez’s daily life. She has spoken publicly about the importance of motherhood, making the transition particularly meaningful for her.

Rather than presenting the change only as a difficult goodbye, Lopez encouraged people going through major life transitions to continue taking care of themselves and maintaining routines that bring stability.

A Personal Period of Change

The transition comes after several significant changes in Lopez’s personal life. Her divorce from Ben Affleck was finalized in January 2025 following their separation.

Lopez has also described a powerful conversation with her father, David Lopez, after watching the Brazilian film I’m Still Here. She said the experience prompted her to reflect on her children, her relationship with her father and past relationships.

According to Lopez, her father’s words of love during that emotional moment helped her view parts of her life differently and move forward.

JLo Beauty and Her Skincare Routine

Lopez launched JLo Beauty in January 2021, turning her long-standing interest in skincare into a beauty business. Her latest video once again connects that professional identity with her personal approach to daily self-care.

As Max and Oskar begin their college journey, Lopez appears to be entering a new phase of her own—one shaped by familiar routines, personal reflection and a changing role as a mother.
