Janta Inter College on Netflix: Anand Tiwari’s Bihar-Set Campus Romance Starring Vishal Jethwa and Palak Tiwari

Remember the chaos, crushes and chalk dust of school life? Netflix India is bringing that feeling back with Janta Inter College, a young-adult romantic comedy set in a Bihar school. It comes from the filmmaker behind Bandish Bandits, and it’s already one of the more interesting entries on Netflix India’s 2027 slate.

Janta Inter College : Overview

A Homecoming for Anand Tiwari

Anand Tiwari is best known for the romantic musical Bandish Bandits on Prime Video, but his Netflix history runs deeper than many people remember. His debut feature, Love Per Square Foot (2018), starring Vicky Kaushal and Angira Dhar, was meant for cinemas but ended up streaming directly on Netflix. It became the first mainstream Indian production on the platform after Netflix entered the market.

Eight years later, he’s back. Tiwari also made Feels Like Ishq and Maja Ma for Prime Video before the two seasons of Bandish Bandits cemented his name. The show’s mix of music, romance and character-driven storytelling is exactly why this reunion feels exciting. He reportedly plans a longer-term collaboration with Netflix involving multiple projects.

Fresh Faces and Familiar Names

Vishal Jethwa, known for Mardaani 2 and Homebound, makes his web series debut here. Palak Tiwari, seen in Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, takes on her second streaming series after Prime Video’s Lukkhe.

The ensemble around them is strong. It includes Sanjay Mishra, Shilpa Shukla, Sharman Joshi, Saurabh Shukla and Vishwanath Chatterjee, with Dia Mirza in what’s described as a powerful cameo. That’s a lot of seasoned talent to anchor a story about students.

The Story Behind the Show

Plot details are still under wraps, but the series is inspired by a story by Divya Prakash Dubey, the author behind Netflix India’s recent hit Musafir Cafe. Dubey wrote the series with Anup Pandey, Garima Pura and Harish Peddinti. It’s pitched as a coming-of-age romantic comedy built around courtship, humour and the everyday crises of student life.

With Musafir Cafe Season 2 also moving into development, Dubey’s partnership with Netflix India is clearly growing.

When Can You Watch It?

The show finished shooting in September and is now in post-production, targeting a premiere in early 2027. Netflix hasn’t confirmed an exact date yet, so treat any specific dates floating around as unofficial for now.
