Is “Wednesday” Ending? Jenna Ortega’s Words Have Fans on Edge

Three words can do a lot of damage to a fandom’s peace of mind. When Jenna Ortega described her hit Netflix show as “coming to a head,” she probably didn’t expect it to spiral into full-blown series-finale speculation — but here we are.

What She Actually Said

In a recent interview, Ortega opened up about entering a new, more focused chapter of her career, mentioning the show was “coming to a head” as she looks toward projects she feels more personally connected to. She never explicitly said “Wednesday” is ending — but fans latched onto the phrasing instantly.

The Show’s Status Right Now

Reading Between the Lines

Ortega’s comment is genuinely ambiguous, and that’s exactly why it’s spreading. It could mean the overarching mystery plot is reaching its climax, not that the series itself is ending. It could also reflect her personal timeline — she’s been playing Wednesday Addams since 2021 and has expressed interest in taking on more mature roles once filming wraps.

Co-creator Miles Millar has previously said the show has a “three to four season” story framework, but also noted Netflix would get “as many seasons as they wanted” after Season 2’s success — a sign the creative team hasn’t necessarily locked in an ending.

The Bigger Picture

Even if Season 3 does turn out to be Wednesday’s final chapter, Netflix isn’t walking away from the Addams family. A confirmed Uncle Fester spin-off means the Addams Family universe on Netflix is likely just getting started, whether or not Ortega herself continues in the title role.
