Is Dulquer Salmaan’s I’m Game Backing Out Of The Onam Box-Office Battle?

Three big films, one festival release date — but it looks like the crowd might just get a little smaller. Dulquer Salmaan’s much-anticipated I’m Game, initially set for an Onam 2026 release, is reportedly facing a postponement due to post-production delays. If true, this would mean one less film in what was shaping up to be a heavily contested festival weekend.

What’s Being Reported

According to Let’s Cinema, I’m Game is unlikely to make its original August 20, 2026 release date because of delays in post-production work. It’s worth noting that this remains a report for now — the makers haven’t issued any official confirmation yet.

If I’m Game does step back, it would ease what was set to be a crowded three-way box-office clash during the festival period.

What Is I’m Game About?

Billed as Dulquer Salmaan’s homecoming film, I’m Game is directed by RDX-fame Nahas Hidhayath and follows Dan John, a man who lives on the edge and prefers algorithm-based betting over relying on luck. Things spiral when his system starts working against him. The film also stars Antony Varghese Pepe, Kayadu Lohar, Kathir, Mysskin, Samyuktha, and Vinay Forrt in key roles.

The makers recently dropped the film’s first single, “Mazhavillaye,” composed by Jakes Bejoy and sung by Armaan Malik, alongside a trailer showcasing slick action and stylish visuals.

What’s Next For Dulquer Salmaan

Beyond I’m Game, Dulquer has a packed lineup ahead — including Aakasamlo Oka Tara opposite Satvika Veeravalli and Shruti Haasan, and Sri Sri, co-starring Pooja Hegde and directed by Ravi Nelakuditi.
