iQOO 16 Spotted on Geekbench With Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6: India Launch Near?

iQOO’s next flagship may be heading to India sooner than expected. A new benchmark listing for a global or India variant of the iQOO 16 has appeared online, showing a very fast Snapdragon chip and Android 17. Here is what the listing reveals, what it does not, and how to read it.

iQOO 16 Geekbench Listing: The Details

According to a post by tech creator Abhishek Yadav, the iQOO 16 Geekbench listing carries the model number vivo I2607. It shows a Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 chip, coded SM8975, with 12GB of RAM and Android 17. The results are a single-core score of 2,944 and a multi-core score of 10,029. Earlier reports had already linked the iQOO 16 to benchmark sightings, including a China model that was reported to have launched with the same class of chip.

What the EX Tag Means

The post says the firmware carries an EX tag, which points to a global build, and that an India launch looks close. This is an inference from firmware naming and not an official announcement. Vivo and iQOO have not confirmed a date, so treat the timing as a guess until the company teases the phone.

How to Read Benchmark Scores

Geekbench listings are useful for spotting hardware, but they are not the final word on real-world speed. Scores can change with software updates, thermal limits and test conditions, and early firmware is sometimes not fully tuned. The clock speeds listed, including the 5.01GHz prime cores, show the chip’s peak, and phones may not hold those speeds during long gaming sessions. For background on the test itself, see the Geekbench Wikipedia page.

What Indian Buyers Can Expect

iQOO phones usually focus on gaming performance, fast charging and bright displays, and the iQOO 16 is expected to continue that trend. Pricing is unknown, and rising memory costs could push flagship prices up. If you want a current iQOO phone, our iQOO coverage covers existing models, including the festive sale prices of the iQOO 15R.

Buyers who are thinking of upgrading should not rush based on one listing. Wait for official specs on the display, battery, camera and charging speed, along with the India price and launch offers, before deciding whether to wait or buy a current model on sale.

Confirmed vs Not Confirmed

Seen in the listing: model number, chip, RAM, Android version and the benchmark scores. Not confirmed: the India launch date, price, battery size, camera hardware and final performance. Benchmark listings can also be altered or misread, so independent verification is helpful. We will update this article as more leaks and official details appear.

What Makes the Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 Special

The listing shows a chip with three CPU clusters, including two prime cores at 5.01GHz, which is a very high clock speed for a phone. The Adreno 850 graphics unit should help in demanding games and video work, while 12GB of RAM is enough for heavy multitasking. Phones built on this class of chip usually need strong cooling to avoid throttling, so it will be interesting to see what thermal design iQOO uses and how long the phone can sustain its peak performance.

Gamers will also want to know about the display refresh rate, touch sampling and battery capacity, none of which appear in the listing. Those details usually arrive closer to launch through teasers and certification listings.
