IPL 2023: Kolkata Knight Riders make the record for scoring the most runs in the last over of a run chase in IPL history

In Match 13 of IPL 2023, Kolkata Knight Riders journeyed to face Gujarat Titans, where an exhilarating game took place. Gujarat Titans managed to score an impressive 204/4 in 20 overs, with Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan contributing in the opening over. This was followed by Vijay Shankar’s rapid innings, who scored 63 runs off just 24 balls.

When Kolkata Knight Riders started their batting, their openers were dismissed cheaply, and the team struggled initially. But Venkatesh Iyer and Nitish Rana managed to stabilize the innings during the middle overs. However, Rashid Khan, the star bowler of the opposition team, took the first hat-trick of IPL 2023, dismissing Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, and Shardul Thakur.

Despite the odds being against them, KKR got a glimmer of hope when Rinku Singh came to the crease. He hit a six and a four in the penultimate over, but KKR still needed an impossible 29 runs off the final over.

However, Rinku Singh had other ideas, and he took Umesh Yadav’s single to retain the strike. In a stunning display of power-hitting, Rinku Singh smashed five consecutive sixes off Yash Dayal to win the match for KKR in an unbelievable finish. Unsurprisingly, he was named the Player of the Match for his outstanding performance, as he snatched victory from the jaws of defeat.

KKR has now made the record for scoring the most runs in the last over of a run chase in IPL history. They scored 31 runs in the 20th over against GT. Here are the ball-by-ball runs scored by KKR against GT in the last over.
