The IPL Mega Auction will be starting in January. There’s still no confirmation on the CVC based Ahmedabad franchise entry in the IPL. BCCI has instructed the other new franchise not to approach players until and unless there’s a stable decision about the Ahmedabad franchise. BCCI has now formed an independent committee that is now investigating CVC’s alleged links with the betting companies.
Earlier BCCI had finalised December 25 as a deadline to get done with the formalities but now they will have to wait. RPSG group had won the rights for the Lucknow franchise after there was a 7,090 crore bid. CVC had successfully bid with Rs 5,625 crore.
Why the Lucknow franchise isn’t allow to sign players in IPL?
As per reports, the new franchises have to name three players and the deadline was extended from 25 December to 31 December. RPSG backed Lucknow franchise had already finalised a deal with KL Rahul and confirmed their title partner. Now, an announcement will be made only after the CVC gets the green signal officially.
What’s been decided in IPL mega auctions so far?
The IPL retention list is already out and the two new franchises will be picking three unretained players before the auction. CVC will get the rights for Ahmedabad and RSPG will get the rights of Lucknow. BCCI has formed an independent committee to see to the alleged ties of CVC with betting companies. the verdict will be given by next week. As per reports, Lucknow has tried to approach players but BCCI has strictly instructed not to do so before the CVC matter gets sorted out. Lucknow franchise has almost finalised the deal with KL Rahul and confirmed a title partner (front jersey sponsor) for the upcoming season, But these can happen only when the CVC matter is fully sorted out. As of now, it is expected that the mega auction will take place in the second week of January.
