The Apple iPhone SE 4, which has been rumored to launch in March 2025, is expected to arrive as a successor to the third-generation iPhone SE launched in 2022. But there is now a rebranding for the next-generation model. There have reportedly been changes of plans and Apple may drop the SE title for its new budget calling the device the iPhone 16e instead, which means that if true, will make iPhone 16e the fifth device in the iPhone 16 run, alongside the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max.

The iPhone 16e will also likely have a 6.06-inch display, compared to the last iPhone SE’s 4.7-inch display. The new screen will feature a 60Hz refresh rate which is par with the display stage of the standard iPhone 16. Also, it will have a full-screen design, which aligns with other models in the iPhone 16 series.

Under the hood, the iPhone 16e will most likely run on the latest A18 chipset by Apple, which will excel in the performance and power-saving department. This chip is also going to underpin Apple Intelligence, a feature that could potentially give the iPhone 16e similar AI capabilities to the other iPhone 16 models.

Also, the iPhone 16e will come with a massively upgraded camera setup. The main camera will use a 48MP Sony Exmor IMX904 sensor, which is a significant improvement over the 12MP sensor from the last SE generation. Its front camera will be a 12MP sensor as well, representing an upgrade over the 7MP front camera of the older SE model. On the battery side, the iPhone 16e is said to pack a bigger 3,279mAh battery, up from the 2,018mAh battery powering the iPhone SE 3.

Other highlights include an IP68 dust and water-resistant rating, Face ID security, 20W wired fast charging, as well as Qi2 and MagSafe wireless charging support. The iPhone 16e is expected to be priced between $499 (approximately ₹42,220) and $549 (around ₹46,400), which positions it as a premium mid-range device, similar to the iPhone SE 3, which launched in India at ₹43,900.
