Heard about the X52 Resonator? This isn’t your average weapon. It’s a full-auto anomaly with insane firepower, a unique design that screams “Wonder Weapon,” and the potential to absolutely dominate in Black Ops 6 and Warzone. Best part? You can unlock it completely free through the Echoes of the Dead event. Let’s break down exactly how to get your hands on this beast.

What Is the Black Ops 6 X52 Resonator?

The X52 Resonator is a special weapon that Activision is describing as a “full-auto anomaly” with immense rate of fire and range—though it does come with high recoil. Think of it as a hybrid between a Wonder Weapon from Zombies mode and an overpowered LMG. Once you level it up and unlock its Shard attachments, this weapon transforms into something genuinely special. By Level 10, it becomes an absolute monster.

How to Unlock the X52 Resonator (Free Method)

The Echoes of the Dead event went live on October 16, 2025, at 10 am PT. The X52 Resonator is the first reward tier, meaning it’s your first unlock in the event. Here’s the beautiful part: you only need to complete ONE of the three available tasks. Pick whichever sounds most manageable for your playstyle.

The Three Challenge Options:

Option 1: Zombies – Eliminate 500 Zombies This is genuinely your easiest path. Jump into the Haunted Havoc LTM and start farming zombies. With proper strategy and loadout optimization, you can finish this in about 15 minutes flat. Yes, 15 minutes for a free special weapon!

Pro Tip: Equip the Maelstrom shotgun and the Aether Shroud Field Upgrade. The Aether Shroud gives you temporary invincibility, allowing you to circle-kill zombies without taking damage. Stack this with the shotgun’s close-range devastation, and you’ll hit 500 kills effortlessly.

Option 2: Multiplayer – Get 150 Eliminations Standard multiplayer grind. Jump into Team Deathmatch or your preferred game mode and rack up 150 kills. This’ll take roughly 45+ minutes depending on your skill level. It’s straightforward but time-consuming compared to the Zombies option.

Option 3: Warzone – Get 25 Eliminations in Zombie Royale Land hot, hunt players, and secure 25 eliminations. This requires actual combat skill since you’re going up against real players, making it the most unpredictable method. Expect 30+ minutes if you’re decent, potentially longer if you struggle.

Our Recommendation? Go Zombies!

Honestly, the Zombies challenge is your golden ticket. It’s the fastest, requires the least stress, and doesn’t depend on RNG or teammate skill. Complete it once, boom—free X52 Resonator unlocked.

Leveling Up Your X52 Resonator: Unlocking the Shards

Here’s where things get interesting. Your X52 starts weak in Multiplayer, but level it up and witness the transformation:

Level 5: Spiked Barrage Shard transforms it into a 7-round burst with insane damage but slower velocity.

Level 10: Orbed Eruption Shard converts it into a multi-shot beast that absolutely shreds enemies. Two shots. That’s all you need to destroy opponents with excellent range and damage. This is the sweet spot.

Level 15: Stone Escalation Shard turns it into a charged sniper weapon for those who want pure power.

Grind a few Multiplayer matches and push to Level 10. The Orbed Eruption Shard is legitimately game-breaking.

The Paid Alternative (Skip This)

If you have 2,400 COD Points burning a hole in your pocket, the Eldritch Fate Mastercraft Ultra bundle instantly unlocks the weapon with a cool Mastercraft animation. But honestly? The free method takes 15 minutes. There’s no reason to spend money here.

FAQs

Q1: Can I unlock the X52 Resonator after the Echoes of the Dead event ends?

A: That’s an excellent question! Typically, Call of Duty limited-time event weapons become permanently unobtainable once the event expires. However, Activision occasionally re-runs events or adds weapons to permanent unlock pools in later seasons. The safest approach is unlocking it NOW while the Echoes of the Dead event is active. If you miss it, there’s no guarantee of a second chance. Even if it returns eventually, grinding 15 minutes of Zombies today is far better than hoping for a future opportunity. Don’t procrastinate on this one!

Q2: Is the X52 Resonator worth using in competitive Warzone play?

A: In its base form? Not really—it feels underwhelming and doesn’t compete with meta weapons. However, once you unlock the Orbed Eruption Shard at Level 10, it becomes genuinely viable for close-quarters combat. The two-shot elimination capability makes it punishing in tight spaces. For competitive Warzone though, traditional assault rifles and SMGs remain superior overall. Use the X52 as a novelty or for casual play, not for ranked tournaments. That said, it’s incredibly fun, looks incredible, and having a special weapon in your arsenal gives you psychological advantage.
