India’s Batting Heroes

Deepti Sharma contributed a crucial 58 off 58 balls, while Smriti Mandhana added a valuable 45 off 58 balls. The trio’s efforts ensured India crossed the 290-mark, putting immense pressure on South Africa’s chase.

Bowling Excellence

India’s bowling attack delivered when it mattered most. Deepti Sharma was the pick of the bowlers with exceptional figures of 5/39 in 9.3 overs, dismantling South Africa’s middle order. Shafali Verma chipped in with 2/36, while Nallapureddy Charani claimed 1/48. Despite Laura Wolvaardt’s fighting century (101 off 98 balls), South Africa fell short by 52 runs.

Breaking the Final Jinx

This victory is particularly sweet for India, having previously lost two World Cup finals:

The team’s resilience and determination finally paid off, ending the 20-year wait for cricket glory.
