Nobody expected much from this one — and that’s exactly why its numbers are turning heads. Vikram Bhatt’s Haunted 3D: Echoes Of The Past has quietly become one of the few bright spots at the Indian box office in months, growing instead of crashing on its second day.

The horror-romantic drama added Rs. 3 crore on Day 2, a healthy 27% jump from its opening day collection of Rs. 2.35 crore, bringing its two-day total to Rs. 5.35 crore nett. Trade estimates now suggest the film could close its opening weekend around Rs. 9-9.5 crore — a respectable number for a movie that released with almost no buzz.

Haunted 3D: Echoes Of The Past- Day-Wise Collection Snapshot

Day	Collection (Nett)
Day 1	Rs. 2.35 crore
Day 2	Rs. 3.00 crore (est.)
Total (2 Days)	Rs. 5.35 crore
Weekend Target	Rs. 9-9.5 crore

Why This Is a Bigger Deal Than It Looks

This genre of low-budget horror, once a Bollywood staple thanks to Vikram Bhatt‘s string of hits including the original Haunted and the Raaz franchise, had largely lost steam over the last decade. Most recent entries in this space barely made a dent. So when Echoes Of The Past not only opened but actually grew on Day 2 — and is outperforming bigger-name releases like Main Vaapas Aaunga, Governor, and Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata — it’s a small but notable signal that audiences still have appetite for this kind of spooky entertainment, especially when there’s little else to watch.

That said, word-of-mouth reportedly isn’t glowing, so whether this momentum holds beyond the weekend remains the real test.
