Harshad Chopda Finally Breaks His Silence on Lock Upp 2 — A 16-Year-Old Betrayal That Changed Him Forever

For over two decades, Harshad Chopda has been one of Indian television’s most loved stars — and one of its most fiercely private. Fans always wondered: why does someone this famous stay so far from the spotlight? On the grand premiere of Lock Upp 2: Sach Ya Sazaa, they finally got their answer. And it hit hard.

Lock Upp 2: Key Details

What Harshad Said on Lock Upp 2

During the mandatory confession round in the premiere, hosts Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh pushed Harshad on why he has remained so reclusive despite his massive fame. What followed was one of the most emotional moments of the episode.

Harshad revealed that he wasn’t always this guarded, but a traumatic double betrayal in 2010 changed him forever. He expressed that when he came into the industry, he was socially active — but then he lost his friend and his girlfriend at the same time.

He confessed: “My girlfriend cheated on me with my best friend, and from then on, I have grown a little private.” He did not name anyone.

What Netizens Are Saying — Fan Theories Explained

The internet did what the internet always does — it went detective mode within minutes.

Social media platforms like X (formerly Twitter) and Reddit were flooded with speculation, with many pointing towards Kumkum Bhagya actress Sriti Jha and TV actor Kunal Karan Kapoor as the people involved.

The logic being offered: Harshad and Kunal worked together on Left Right Left and were reportedly inseparable best friends. Harshad and Sriti reportedly shared a close bond during their time on Dil Se Di Dua… Saubhagyavati Bhava?. Following that, Sriti and Kunal were reportedly in a long-term relationship.

However, some fans were quick to note that Harshad spoke about the cheating incident from 2010, while he only met Sriti Jha in 2011-12 when they worked together — making the timeline inconsistent with the fan theory.

Important to note: None of this has been confirmed by Harshad, Sriti Jha, or Kunal Karan Kapoor. These remain fan theories only, and Sriti Jha in particular has faced backlash for being named without any evidence.

A Confession That Explains Everything

For fans of the actor, this moment was deeply moving. Harshad’s withdrawal from public life, his reluctance to discuss relationships, his careful, measured persona — it all suddenly made sense. A double betrayal — by a romantic partner and a best friend simultaneously — at the start of your career would leave marks that last decades.

Lock Upp Season 2 is already delivering exactly the kind of raw, unfiltered content that made the first season a talking point. And it’s only Day 1.
