The Roles That Matter Most

Ryan Hurst as Kratos is the defining casting decision — and it’s inspired. Hurst (The Walking Dead, Sons of Anarchy) already voiced Thor in God of War: Ragnarök, so he knows this world intimately. He brings the physical presence and brooding intensity the role demands. This isn’t stunt casting. This is someone who clearly loves the source material.

Mandy Patinkin as Odin is the kind of unexpected choice that makes you instantly excited. Odin in the games is cold, calculating, and theatrically menacing — Patinkin (Criminal Minds, Homeland) can do all of that and more.

Ed Skrein as Baldur is equally sharp. His work in Deadpool as Ajax proved he can play a charming villain with genuine menace, and Baldur is exactly that kind of role.

The latest batch of additions — Modi, Magni, Thrud, and Gna — round out Thor’s family dynamics. Louis Cunningham (Bridgerton, Marie Antoinette) as Modi and Island Austin as Thrud are both series regulars, suggesting Thor’s storyline will be as central here as it was in Ragnarök.

The series picks up with Kratos and Atreus embarking on a journey through the Norse realms to scatter the ashes of Faye — Kratos’ wife and Atreus’ mother — a mission that puts them on a collision course with every god in Asgard.
