The line between K-pop and C-dramas keeps getting blurrier — and honestly, we’re not complaining. Many Chinese actors got their start as K-pop idols before returning home to build acting careers, bringing stage-honed charisma and physical precision straight into their performances. Here’s a closer look at 11 dramas where that idol background truly shines.

Here is the lists of 11 C-Dramas:

The Untamed stars Wang Yibo, former member of YG’s UNIQ, in this beloved fantasy epic. He plays a resurrected cultivator who reunites with his stoic partner to unravel a decades-old conspiracy that once tore their world apart — a role built almost entirely on restrained intensity and quiet emotional weight.

Exclusive Fairytale features SEVENTEEN’s Jun in a gentle coming-of-age romance. He plays a young man whose lifelong, sibling-like bond with his childhood neighbor slowly and believably shifts into something deeper, making this a favorite for fans of slow-burn romance.

Fight for Love casts former f(x) member Victoria Song as a general’s daughter who disguises herself to infiltrate a rival household, using wit and disguise to expose a dangerous political conspiracy threatening her family.

Their Wonderful Time stars I.O.I and PRISTIN alum Zhou Jie Qiong in a playful sci-fi romance, where a VR game developer’s body gets unexpectedly hijacked by a mischievous in-game NPC, blurring the lines between virtual fantasy and real-world romance.

The Golden Eyes brings EXO’s Lay into a mystery-drama role as a humble pawnshop worker who discovers he can see the hidden value and history behind objects — a gift that pulls him into the high-stakes world of antique trading and deception.

Sweet Combat stars former EXO member Luhan as a scholarship boxer whose passion for the ring brings him close to a wealthy conglomerate heiress, blending sports drama with a classic rich-girl, humble-boy romance.

Falling Into Your Smile features WJSN’s Cheng Xiao as the league’s first female professional gamer, fighting to prove herself in a male-dominated e-sports world while slowly winning the heart of her team captain along the way.

The Princess and the Werewolf casts Wu Xuan Yi, formerly of WJSN and Rocket Girls 101, as a princess trapped in a fantastical realm, navigating an arranged marriage to a mysterious shape-shifting Wolf King in this fantasy-romance hybrid.

Sweet Games stars NCT and WayV’s WinWin as a landlord who has secretly admired his tenant for years. When a burnt-out entrepreneur reconnects with him, sparks fly in this cozy, understated workplace-adjacent romance.

Veil of Shadows features PENTAGON’s Yan An as a young nine-tailed fox hunting a dangerous fugitive demon, all while navigating shifting alliances, hidden loyalties, and mounting supernatural threats.

Love the Way You Are stars Wanna One’s Lai Kuanlin, playing a man who reenters the life of a woman he once cared for, now grown, self-assured, and clearly smitten — a sweet, nostalgic second-chance romance.

Why These Performances Hit Different

This crossover trend isn’t a coincidence — idol training builds physical control and screen presence that naturally lend itself to acting, a pattern increasingly visible across Chinese television drama, where casting former idols has become a smart way to blend built-in fanbases with fresh acting talent.
