“Four Hands, Two Sonatas” First Look: Song Kang, Lee Jun Young, and Jang Gyuri’s Musical Bond Takes Center Stage

Music, friendship, and rivalry are about to collide in tvN’s upcoming drama Four Hands, Two Sonatas, which just dropped its first official stills — and the trio at the center of it all already looks like magic in the making.

Four Hands, Two Sonatas- Overview

What Does “Four Hands” Even Mean?

For those unfamiliar with the term, “four hands” is a piano technique where two people play a single piano together — a fitting metaphor for a story built entirely around collaboration, rivalry, and shared growth. The drama traces the friendship, love, and competitive tension between young musicians as they grow from teenagers into professional pianists.

Meet the Trio

Song Kang plays Kang Bi Oh, a piano major who stands out for his neat uniform, calm demeanor, and quietly serious attitude toward music — the type who chooses his sheet music with real intention rather than casual interest.

Lee Jun Young takes on Choi Jung Yo, also a piano major, but with an entirely different energy. Sporting a hoodie under his uniform and carrying an indifferent, free-spirited vibe, he’s set up as the perfect contrast to Bi Oh’s disciplined presence.

Rounding out the trio is Jang Gyuri as Hong Jae In, a viola major whose bright, easygoing energy lets her naturally connect with both her childhood friend Bi Oh and the new transfer student Jung Yo. Her genuine, attentive love for music shines through even in the quieter stills.

What the First Look Reveals

The newly released images capture the three as classmates settling into their arts high school routine — practicing four-hands piano together, walking to school, and simply existing in shared spaces like practice rooms and hallways. It’s a grounded, slice-of-life glimpse before the inevitable complications of passion, rivalry, and growing up set in.

What to Expect From the Story

As the three navigate practice rooms, hallways, and campus life together, expect the drama to explore how competition and friendship intertwine when ambition and emotion collide — a coming-of-age story wrapped around the discipline and beauty of classical music.

When Can You Watch?

Four Hands, Two Sonatas premieres on August 29, 2026, at 9:10 PM KST on tvN. While waiting, fans can check out Lee Jun Young in “Reborn Rookie” or catch Song Kang in “Beautiful Vampire” to hold them over.
