First overclocking details docks for NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 – All in details

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 graphics card’s overclocking results are out. Videocardz posted the performance test results that show how well the RTX 3080 GDDR6X memory performs when it’s overclocked along with a report on the power limits set for the custom and Founders Edition boards.

The results delivered by NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 Graphics Card was very surprising as it can hit GDDR6X Memory speeds above 20 Gbps when overclocked. Among the custom models and the Founders Edition variant of the specific card, it was seen that the Founders Edition is slightly better than custom models when overclocked.

At first, the high-end models of the card will hit the market after that the first wave of GeForce RTX 3080 custom cards will get its release. Not only the custom cards will offer the best cooling and heatsink designs but also it will arrive with monstrous and over-powered PCBs which will entitle higher power limits for extra overclocking potential. The Founders Edition board will have a 370W power limit and the board custom cards will have a 320W and max 350W power limit. The more the max power limit, the more will be the overclocked performance of the card.

New NVIDIA Ampere RTX GPUs comes with an insane performance starting at 9

Videocardz tested the GeForce RTX 3080 that had a power limit of 320W, The GDDR6X memory was pushed beyond 20 Gbps i.e. to 20.7 Gbps over the standard 19 Gbps pin speeds which are an 850 MHz overclock. The GPU was overclocked by 70 MHz. The GPU wasn’t pushed much further as it was just a test to show how well the memory overclocking works. The card was able to give the base clock frequency of 1510 MHz and the boosted clock frequency of 1780 MHz along with the memory frequency of 1294 MHz. Several 3DMark tests were performed on the GPU which shows that when its memory is overclocked. it gives a 2-3% performance increase.

The average power drawn by the GPU was around 317W with minimal spikes at both stock and overclocked speeds. The GPU temperature didn’t surpass 70C for both scenarios. The average core clocks around 1860 MHz at stock, while when overclocked the clocks stabilized at 1935 MHz. The memory power draw was around 76W while the total GPU chip power was around 175W when overclocked.

Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 3080 will be available on September 17. The GPU will give twice the performance of the Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 2060. It will come with a 10GB memory variant with GDDR6X design and memory speeds of 19.0 Gbps. A 320-bit bus interface will deliver a cumulative bandwidth of 760 Gbps. The starting market price of this GPU variant will be $699.
