The coastal reality hit is back with a brand-new lineup, bigger challenges, and some seriously exciting guest chemistry. “Fresh Off the Sea 3” has revealed key details ahead of its premiere, and fans of the show’s mix of scenic travel, hard labor, and warm sibling-style bonding have plenty to look forward to.
New Season Cast
| Cast Member | Role in the “Family” |
|---|---|
| Yum Jung Ah | Eldest sibling, “generous captain” |
| Kim Sun Young | Second sibling, “quirky” energy |
| Kang You Seok | Third sibling, “playful and cute” |
| Roh Yoon Seo | Youngest sibling, “optimistic” spirit |
A Fresh “Family” With Instant Chemistry
The biggest shift this season is an entirely new four-person cast dynamic. Yum Jung Ah returns as the dependable eldest, joined by longtime fan-turned-cast-member Kim Sun Young, Kang You Seok (currently working alongside Yum Jung Ah on another project), and Roh Yoon Seo, who has prior ties to each of her new castmates. According to the production team, the group clicked instantly, building an easy rapport from their very first meeting — one filled with laughter both during grueling physical tasks and quiet breaks in between.
Bigger Missions, Bigger Harvests
The show’s core concept — traveling Korea’s coastlines to harvest seasonal ingredients and cook amid stunning scenery — remains intact, but Season 3 is dialing up the unpredictability. The cast reportedly kept their bags packed at all times, ready for sudden shifts in plans, including surprise fishing expeditions. This season’s harvesting tasks go bigger too, featuring large-scale sea squirt collection and the rare Gyeonnaeryang stone seaweed, which can only be gathered for about 15 days each year. The format echoes the broader appeal of slow television-style programming, where the process itself — not just the destination — becomes the draw.
Guest Stars Add Extra Buzz
Adding to the excitement, Cho Jung Seok and Park Hae Joon will appear as special guests this season. Cho Jung Seok previously worked with Yum Jung Ah in “Hit-and-Run Squad,” while Park Hae Joon recently starred alongside both Yum Jung Ah and Kim Sun Young in “Love, Take Two” — and shared a father-son dynamic with Kang You Seok in “When Life Gives You Tangerines.” Their overlapping histories are expected to bring an extra layer of familiarity and charm to the variety show setting.
“Fresh Off the Sea 3” premieres July 30 at 8:40 p.m. KST on tvN.
