Evil Dead Burn Fizzles Out: A Scary Start That Couldn’t Hold Its Nerve

Horror doesn’t always mean a horrifying box office — but for Evil Dead Burn, the scares faded fast. The Hollywood slasher opened to a strong Rs. 25 crore in its first week in India, only to lose steam right after, closing its theatrical journey at a modest Rs. 36.50 crore.

What Went Wrong After a Blazing Start?

The film’s momentum was crushed the moment The Odyssey hit screens in week two, pulling audiences away and slashing collections to just Rs. 8 crore. By week three, Spider-Man: Brand New Day’s massive run left no room for Evil Dead Burn to breathe, and it wrapped up with a mere Rs. 2.50 crore addition.

With a small residual trickle expected, the film should settle around Rs. 36.50 crore lifetime — falling short of its predecessor’s Rs. 39 crore run.

The Bigger Picture

Despite missing franchise-topping ambitions, Evil Dead Burn’s numbers reflect a wider trend: Hollywood horror and non-IP titles are quietly having a solid year at the Indian box office, often beating modest expectations.
