Esports World Cup 2026: Overview

Mike McCabe, Deputy CEO and Chief Operating Officer at the Esports Foundation, stated, “The Opening Ceremony is our chance to welcome the world to the Esports World Cup. As we bring EWC 2026 to Paris for the first time, we wanted to celebrate the city through artists who have helped shape music and culture in France today. Aya Nakamura, DJ Snake, and Theodora each represent something different, but together they reflect the creativity and influence that make Paris such a special place to host this event.”

Aya Nakamura, recognized for her fusion of R&B, Afrobeats, zouk, and contemporary French pop, has achieved international acclaim. Her music is frequently cited for its impact on multicultural French identity. DJ Snake, a globally recognized DJ and producer with origins in Paris, has cultivated a career spanning electronic music, hip-hop, and pop. His work draws from diverse global musical traditions and has garnered a worldwide following that mirrors the global connectivity found in gaming. Theodora, an emerging artist, blends rap, pop, and club music with elements of online culture, representing a digitally native and culturally connected demographic.

The announcement follows the previous year’s opening ceremony in Riyadh, which featured artists such as Post Malone, DINO of SEVENTEEN, and Alesso. The 2026 edition, marking the Esports World Cup (https://www.esportsworldcup.com/en)’s debut as an international event, seeks to enhance its global appeal through these cultural collaborations.

The Esports World Cup 2026 is scheduled to run in Paris, France, from July 6 through August 23. The competition will host over 2,000 players from more than 100 countries, representing 200 clubs across 25 tournaments in 24 distinct games.
