Epic Games store was launched in December 2018, and now it is going to turn 5. However, what doesn’t change a lot is its profit percentage.
Although before there were many rumours about the store that have been dead now. But then also the store hasn’t hit its success yet.
Currently, Epic Games Store and Google are engaged in a legal showdown over app store fees. This has offered some new and interesting testimony regarding the former.
It was just a few days back that the Company boss Steve Allison, admitted that the storefront still isn’t earning profits. He also stated that now their main aim is to expand their user base and approach a wide audience rather than charging their users.
This is something big, keeping in mind that earlier in 2021 during its showdown with Apple, the company admitted about their losses. With that, they also claimed that because of their aggressive and productive promotion, they would start making profits by 2023. But, we can clearly see it’s not the case till now.
After its launch and except for some big events Epic Games store is not able to make some bold announcements or launch games to attract consumers. Also, it only appears in the news once in a while, like in a three-month or so.
There are many reasons behind the condition of the Epic Games store and why it is not earning profits. Epic Game Store is fully funding some games like Alan Wake 2. This is to ensure that they will have exclusive rights on the game for PC which will benefit them in the long run.
Also, till now it has continued the tradition of streaming free games to attract people. No doubt it has increased the Epic launcher download book, but it has also contributed to its unprofitability.
Moreover, the news of Epic Games Store boss Sergiy Galyonkin leaving the company recently shook the ground. This was in light of the loss and layoffs to manage the company.
