Epic Games gets $250 million investment from Sony

Back in May, Epic Games revealed its fundamental toolset called Unreal Engine 5 that can be used to build so many games. Epic Games is also very much known for its Fortnite game. It recently got an investment of $250 million from the Japanese Giant Sony and adding this amount, now, Epic Games bagged $1.83 billion in total.

In return for the investment, Sony got a minority percentage of the stack and it is 1.4%. This amount of Stack costs $17.86 billion to Epic Games.

The deal will strengthen the bonding and collaboration between the two companies for sure. Both can use the entertainment assets and technologies by Sony as well as the digital ecosystem and entertainment platform by Epic Games. Besides, Sony also can publish the games of Epic.

The founder and CEO of Epic Games, Tim Sweeney said, “Sony and Epic have both built businesses at the intersection of creativity and technology, and we share a vision of real-time 3D social experiences leading to a convergence of gaming, film, and music. Together we strive and built an even more open and accessible digital ecosystem for all consumers and content creators alike.”

Sony already lifted the certain form the design of its next gen gaming console PlayStation 5 and preparing for its launch.
