James Anderson in IPL Auction

Anderson’s decision to enter the IPL auction pool with a base price of Rs 1.25 crore marks a historic first in his illustrious career. Having never participated in the IPL since its inception in 2008, this move has generated significant buzz in the cricket community. Speaking to Sky Sports, Anderson expressed his enthusiasm: “I want to play again. Whether I get picked or not is a different matter. But I have a feeling inside me that I’ve got more to offer in some shape or form.”

The veteran pacer’s confidence stems from his maintained fitness levels and continued involvement with the sport. Despite retiring from international cricket this summer, Anderson has seamlessly transitioned into a coaching role with England’s Test side, serving as their fast-bowling consultant during the home summer and the Pakistan tour.

His remarkable statement about playing until 50 reflects not just confidence but also hints at the premature nature of his international retirement. “If it were in my hands, I would’ve continued playing till 50. I believe I am fit and performing well. England were looking at the future, which is perfectly fine,” Anderson reflected, showing both understanding and a hint of regret.

The IPL 2025 mega auction, scheduled for November 24-25 in Jeddah, could potentially open a new chapter in Anderson’s career.
