Enemies, Ice Rinks, and Everything Between: Netflix’s ‘Icebreaker’ Is Officially Happening

Fans of steamy YA romance have a new reason to watch this space. Netflix is turning Hannah Grace’s viral hit novel Icebreaker into a full series — and the enemies-to-lovers, ice-skating-meets-hockey story is finally moving from page to screen.

What Is Icebreaker About?

The story follows Anastasia Allen, a figure skater chasing her Team USA dream after landing a scholarship spot on a competitive college team. Her plans hit a snag when a facilities mishap forces her squad to share a rink with the hockey team — led by team captain Nate Hawkins, a guy she can’t stand. When Anastasia’s skating partner faces an uncertain future, she may have no choice but to turn to Nate, setting up the classic rivals-to-romance arc fans of the genre love.

The Team Behind the Adaptation

The series is being developed by showrunner Amanda Lasher, known for her work on Gossip Girl, alongside co-writer Jade Bartlett, who previously worked on Road House. Lasher has spoken about being drawn to the genre since her teenage years, while Bartlett highlighted the story’s blend of ambition and genuine warmth among its characters.
