Bollywood just got its next big romantic event film. The Ek Din trailer has officially been unveiled, and it is everything fans have been waiting for — soft, emotional, hopeful, and full of heart. Starring Junaid Khan and Sai Pallavi, this is one trailer that has already set the internet buzzing ahead of the film’s theatrical release.

What Is Ek Din About?

Ek Din is a warm yet heartbreaking tale of a man who is deeply and madly in love with his colleague. Rohan is in love with his colleague Meera but does not have the courage to express his feelings toward her. The trailer shows Junaid as a calm and introverted person who struggles to express his feelings, while Sai Pallavi is shown as a warm, spontaneous, and full-of-life kind of character.

The story takes a dramatic turn midway. A twist unfolds in Japan when Sai meets with an accident and suffers from Transient Global Amnesia (TGA), remembering only Junaid, who saved her life. This shift reframes their relationship entirely, creating a space where love, memory and identity begin to blur. The film positions itself as a mix of emotional storytelling and magical realism, with music and mood playing a key role in shaping the narrative.

Is Ek Din a Remake?

Yes. Ek Din is a remake of the 2016 Thai film, One Day, bankrolled by Junaid’s father, Aamir Khan. While the story has its roots in Thai cinema, the makers have given it a distinctly Bollywood treatment — complete with scenic Japan sequences, office romance and a deeply emotional core.

The Team Behind the Film

Directed by Sunil Pandey in his debut, Ek Din is backed by Aamir Khan Productions. Pandey, who has previously worked as an assistant director on films like Delhi Belly and Laal Singh Chaddha, steps into direction with a story that balances intimacy with a slightly fantastical edge. Beyond its central romance, the film also marks the reunion of Aamir Khan and Mansoor Khan, a partnership that shaped some of Hindi cinema’s most loved coming-of-age and romantic films. Their return to the genre adds a layer of nostalgia, even as the story attempts something new.

Release Date

Ek Din was initially scheduled to release on 7 November 2025; however, it was postponed to 1 May 2026. The new release date places it squarely as a Labour Day holiday treat for audiences.
