A Glimpse into Kohli’s Early Life

As we celebrate Virat Kohli’s 35th birthday, let’s take a brief look at the early years of the cricketing sensation. Born on November 5, 1988, in Delhi, Kohli’s journey to superstardom began in his formative years.

Kohli, born into a Punjabi Hindu family, showed an early affinity for cricket at just three years old. His natural talent and love for the game were evident as he requested his father to bowl to him.

In 1998, the West Delhi Cricket Academy played a pivotal role in shaping Kohli’s cricketing career. His father, Prem Kohli, recognized his son’s passion for cricket and arranged for him to meet Rajkumar Sharma, a coach who was impressed by Kohli’s skills and determination.

Despite facing initial setbacks in securing a place in the under-14 Delhi team, Kohli’s father insisted that his son earn recognition based on merit, rejecting offers to place him in influential clubs. Kohli persevered and eventually found his way into the under-15 Delhi team, all while training at the academy and playing matches.

Overcoming adversity, Kohli continued to display remarkable talent, becoming a force to be reckoned with. His unwavering dedication to the game led him to transition to Saviour Convent School during his ninth-grade education. His passion for cricket pushed him and his father to travel long distances to ensure he never missed a match.

A Turning Point

On December 18, 2006, Kohli experienced a significant loss when his father passed away due to a cerebral attack. His father had been a driving force in his cricketing journey, and Kohli credits him for his relentless practice. After his father’s demise, Kohli transformed into a more mature and focused cricketer, pouring his heart and soul into the game. His determination to succeed and overcome the challenges of the cricketing system in Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA) only grew stronger.

Change of Residence

Kohli’s family resided in Meera Bagh, Paschim Vihar until 2015 when they relocated to Gurgaon.

As we look forward to the grand celebration at Eden Gardens, it’s essential to remember the incredible journey that brought Virat Kohli to this point. His early struggles and unwavering determination have made him the cricketing icon he is today.

In just a few days, the cricketing world will come together at Eden Gardens, not only to witness a thrilling IND vs. SA clash but also to celebrate Virat Kohli’s 35th birthday in grand style. With cake, face masks, fireworks, and a full house of fans, it’s a birthday bash fit for the cricketing king. Happy Birthday, Virat Kohli!
