A viral claim has pulled one of cricket’s quietest private moments into the spotlight. Virat Kohli’s camp has now hit back, and the statement is blunt.
What Is the Claim?
The allegation came from Dinesh Sharma, also known as Falahari Maharaj, who is president of the Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Sangharsh Nyas. He alleged that Rs 5 crore was spent to bring Kohli to Premanand Maharaj’s ashram. Yahoo Sports
Virat Kohli’s Response?
On Wednesday, October 7, 2026, Kohli’s spokesperson rejected the allegation that the former India captain was paid Rs 5 crore, calling it “completely false, baseless and factually incorrect”. The statement added that Kohli’s association with the spiritual leader stems from personal faith and reverence. dynamitenewsindia

A Pattern of Visits, Not a One-Off
Kohli’s visits to Vrindavan go back years. He and Anushka Sharma first met Premanand Maharaj on January 4, 2023. By June 2026 it was their seventh meeting in three years. One of those visits came days after RCB won a second straight IPL title, when the couple walked barefoot into the ashram.
Kohli has also visited right after major career moments, including a day after announcing his Test retirement. For the couple’s followers, that history is exactly why the Rs 5 crore claim feels out of place. heraldgoa
Why This Matters?
Celebrity and spirituality make an easy target for viral rumours. A claim with a big number attached spreads fast, while a denial rarely travels as far. Before sharing, it’s worth asking who made the claim and what proof was offered. For now, no evidence has been presented in the reports we reviewed.
