Malayalam cinema’s most prolific entertainer just keeps moving. Hot on the heels of Bha Bha Ba, Dileep has officially announced his 152nd film — and it comes with a striking title, an intriguing first-look poster, and a director carrying one of the most respected surnames in the industry.

Neekkam — Everything You Need to Know

The film has been officially titled Neekkam, described by the makers as “THE INEVITABLE MOVE.” The first-look poster immediately sets the tone — Dileep appears in a brooding, heavy-bearded avatar, walking through a crowd and stepping into the rain with a grim expression, umbrella in hand. It’s a world away from the comedic roles he’s most known for, and that contrast alone has fans talking.

A Debut Director With Strong Roots

What makes Neekkam genuinely exciting beyond Dileep’s involvement is the man calling the shots — Jagan Shaji Kailas, son of veteran Malayalam director Shaji Kailas, who built a legendary career helming action blockbusters over three decades. Jagan has worked as an assistant director on his father’s films, including Kaduva starring Prithviraj Sukumaran and Kaval featuring Suresh Gopi, before making his directorial debut here.

It’s a classic case of a next-generation filmmaker stepping out from a giant’s shadow — and choosing a star of equal stature to make that statement with.

Dileep, who made his debut in the early 1990s, has built one of the longest and most commercially successful careers in Malayalam cinema, known equally for his comic timing and mass appeal.

Dileep’s Recent Work

His last release, Bha Bha Ba, followed Radar — a quirky conman who kidnaps Kerala’s Chief Minister by slipping him a laxative-laced drink. The film featured Vineeth Sreenivasan, Dhyan Sreenivasan, and cameos from Mohanlal, SJ Suryah, and Salim Kumar, and is currently streaming on ZEE5. A follow-up collaboration with that film’s director is also said to be on the cards, though unconfirmed.

With Neekkam now officially announced, Dileep shows no signs of slowing down — and his fans wouldn’t have it any other way.
