Top Spiritborn Leveling Builds (Tier List)
S-Tier: Quill Volley Build
The Quill Volley build remains the gold standard for leveling, combining exceptional movement speed with devastating AoE damage. This build revolves around the Gorilla Spirit Guardian for survivability while unleashing waves of projectiles that melt enemy packs.
Why It Works: High damage output against vulnerable targets, excellent resource generation, and seamless transition to endgame content. While less explosive than previous seasons, it maintains solid clear speed and competitive damage.
Core Skills: Quill Volley (primary), The Seeker Ultimate, Measured Ravager, Soar, and Armored Hide for defense.
A-Tier: Rushing Claw/Jaguar Build
The Rushing Claw damage buff makes this previously underwhelming build much more enjoyable for leveling, with improved damage output and easier resource generation. The new Path of Emissary unique boots further enhance this playstyle by auto-casting core skills as you move.
Best For: Players who prefer aggressive melee combat with high mobility. Though not a top contender, these builds catch up somewhat thanks to double DPS increases and hybrid playstyle options.
Essential Spirit Hall Setup
Your primary Spirit unlocks at Level 15 after completing the “Sacred Hunt” questline in Gea Kul, with the secondary Spirit automatically unlocking at Level 30. For leveling, prioritize:
- Primary: Gorilla (survivability boost)
- Secondary: Eagle or Jaguar (damage/mobility)
According to Blizzard’s official Diablo 4 documentation, combining Guardians strategically creates powerful synergies that define your playstyle.

Gearing Tips for Fast Leveling
Focus on Dexterity, Critical Strike Chance, and Vulnerable Damage affixes. Use Polearms as your weapon for increased Vulnerable damage, and prioritize the Rebounding Aspect for additional Quill Volley damage. Don’t forget to upgrade your healing potion at the Alchemist every 10 levels!
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Spiritborn Still Viable in Season 11 After the Nerfs?
Yes, but with caveats. Spiritborn suffers a substantial drop in power due to the removal of triple masterwork and bugged mechanics like Jaguar Spirit Hall’s double-dipping damage. The class shifted from being unstoppable in Season 10 to a more balanced position. However, evade-focused builds and the buffed Quill Volley remain strong for leveling and mid-tier endgame content. You’ll need more deliberate build planning and better gear optimization compared to last season, but the class is far from dead—just no longer overpowered.
Which Spiritborn Build Should Beginners Choose for Season 11?
The Quill Volley build is hands-down the best choice for beginners. It offers straightforward gameplay, doesn’t rely on complex combos, and provides excellent survivability through the Gorilla Guardian’s defensive bonuses. The build scales naturally as you level, requires minimal gear dependency early on, and transitions smoothly into endgame activities. Plus, the ranged playstyle keeps you safer while learning enemy mechanics. Avoid the Rushing Claw build until you’re comfortable with melee range positioning and resource management—it requires more skill to pilot effectively despite recent buffs.
