DC Universe is coming with a new Aquaman series, this time the show will include more big twists for the usual Aquaman lore! Currently, the fans are watching DC’s latest crossover event, “Lazarus Planet” which depicts several tie-in comics and one-shot specials.
We can say that the entire major week is including this week’s Lazarus Planet: We Once Were Gods. We will see the one-shot that has taken a look at many types of members of the core Justice League roster and how they have planned to deal with the game-changing event of the Lazarus Volcano erupting, spewing the power-altering Lazarus Resin all over Earth.
We are going to see that in this new Aquaman’s story, a group of people walking by a nighttime beach finds out the water stained with Lazarus Resin and three bodies washed up on the shore. They take up one of such blonde-haired men towards their home to help him, only to find out when he has set to wake that he’s feral and dangerous. The man is attacking the group, slamming one man into a wall, and biting at the neck of another man while kidnapping the family’s dog to eat. At the time of the fight, it becomes clear about the stranger is quite as human as he initially appears to be.
Aquaman enters the scene just in time to prevent the group of people from destroying and killing the stranger. The King of the Sea declares that the Lazarus Volcano’s eruption has somehow affected the mutated ancient Atlanteans known as “The Trench,” which has transformed them back into their original humanoid forms.
At the end of the tale, it’s clear that the setup made for the next Aquaman series to take on the story of Arthur trying to lead the Trench back into the world – without it spelling doom for both the surface world and the rest of Atlantis:
“The volcano eruption has changed the world, dragging them out of the trenches. I now see them as they truly are. My Ancestors. And if we can’t show them how to share these shores… I’m afraid we’ll see what they’re truly capable of.”
