Dacoit Trailer Review: Adivi Sesh Wrote It, Directed by a Cinematographer, and Jr NTR Can’t Stop Raving!

When three of Telugu cinema’s biggest stars — Mahesh Babu, Jr NTR, and Vijay Deverakonda — all jump on social media to praise the same trailer within hours, you know something special is brewing. The Dacoit: A Love Story trailer just landed, and the buzz is completely justified.

Dacoit (2026) — Film Overview

What’s the Dacoit Story?

The trailer, running over two minutes, centres on a couple who were once deeply in love — planning futures, building something real together. Then a single catastrophic event tears them apart, and what follows is a volatile cocktail of animosity, unresolved feelings, and dangerous stakes.

The central tension: when they meet again, is it love or vengeance driving them? That ambiguity is what makes the trailer electric. This is the kind of action film that dares to lead with emotion rather than spectacle, using the romantic angle to make every fight scene feel personal.

What makes this even more interesting is that Adivi Sesh wrote the screenplay himself — the same actor who proved his storytelling instincts with Major. And the film is directed by Shaneil Deo, a cinematographer-turned-director, which shows clearly in the trailer’s stunning visual grammar.

The Praise Pouring In Is No Joke

When the trailer dropped, Tollywood’s elite couldn’t hold back. Jr NTR called it gripping and very well made, wishing the team the very best. Mahesh Babu noted the growth from Major to Dacoit and praised it as a solid setup. Vijay Deverakonda highlighted the conviction and belief visible in every frame.

That’s not standard Bollywood politeness — that’s genuine peer endorsement, and it matters.

Behind the Scenes & Casting Drama

This film has had quite the journey. Originally slated for December 25, 2025, it was pushed to March 2026 and then again to April 10. There was also a notable casting change — Shruti Haasan was originally signed as the female lead, with even a glimpse released, but she eventually opted out. Mrunal Thakur stepped in and, based on the trailer, seems like a perfect fit.

Producer Supriya Yarlagadda also plays a pivotal role in the film — not a common sight in Telugu cinema — adding another layer of intrigue to the project.
