Even with Spider-Man storming Indian theaters, Christopher Nolan’s mythological epic refuses to slow down. “The Odyssey” has now crossed a landmark box office figure — and it’s still not done.
The Odyssey: Day 18 Numbers
The Odyssey managed to rake in Rs 2 crore across 1,167 shows on Monday (Day 18), taking its total India gross collections to Rs 181.03 crore and total India net collections to Rs 151.85 crore so far. The film witnessed a significant drop of 64.6% in its collection on Day 18 compared to the previous day, a typical weekday slowdown after a strong third weekend.
| Detail | Info |
|---|---|
| Day 18 Collection | Rs 2 crore (net) |
| 18-Day Total (Gross) | Rs 181.03 crore |
| 18-Day Total (Net) | Rs 151.85 crore |
| Director | Christopher Nolan |
| Worldwide Day 1 | $72.98 million |
| Total Budget | $375 million |
A Blockbuster Third Weekend
Despite direct competition from a Hollywood juggernaut, the film held its ground impressively. The Odyssey added Rs 7.25 crore on its third Sunday, closing the weekend at Rs 18.25 crore, with Saturday and Sunday collections dropping less than 50 percent from the previous weekend.
The film’s premium-format strength has been a standout story throughout its run. The Odyssey emerged as the highest-grossing IMAX film in India, surpassing Nolan’s own “Oppenheimer,” with over Rs 60 crore coming from just 36 IMAX screens.
Language-Wise Breakdown
On Day 18, English led the day’s net collection with Rs 1.9 crore at 47% occupancy, while Hindi contributed just Rs 0.07 crore, and Tamil and Telugu added Rs 0.02 crore and Rs 0.01 crore respectively. Across its full run, English has dominated with a massive Rs 126.4 crore from 54,872 shows and a 67.6% occupancy rate nationwide.
What’s Next
With another weekend ahead and continued support from premium screens, the film is expected to add more to its already impressive total before wrapping its theatrical run, remaining one of Hollywood’s biggest performers in India this year.
Inspired by Homer’s ancient epic, the film draws from one of literature’s oldest surviving stories, Homer’s Odyssey, giving Nolan’s blockbuster scale a genuinely timeless narrative foundation.
