BTS & ARIRANG: A Phenomenon Beyond Certifications

The Quadruple Million certification is just the latest feather in ARIRANG‘s already overflowing cap. Released on March 20, 2026, the album — named after the iconic traditional Korean folk song — debuted at No. 1 in over 25 countries, broke Spotify’s record for the largest debut day streams by an Asian act in history, and became the best-selling album of 2026 worldwide. Its title track “SWIM” peaked at No. 2 on Spotify’s Global chart and No. 22 on the Billboard Hot 100.

The album’s themes of identity, separation, reunion, and cultural heritage — paired with BTS’s first full-group comeback after their military service — made ARIRANG one of the most emotionally charged releases in K-pop history. The Arirang World Tour, spanning 85 dates across 34 cities from April 2026 to March 2027, is already a sell-out phenomenon.

Understanding Circle Chart Certifications

The Circle Chart (formerly Gaon Chart) is South Korea’s official music chart authority. Its certification tiers work like this:

Platinum — 250,000+ album sales or 100 million+ streams
Million — 1,000,000+ album sales
Double / Triple / Quadruple Million — multiples of the above

Only the biggest names in K-pop ever reach the Quadruple Million tier — making BTS’s latest achievement a testament to ARMY’s unwavering global force.

P1Harmony, HUNTR/X & DK: Rising Stars Shine

Beyond BTS, this certification round spotlights the growth of the next generation. P1Harmony’s mini album UNIQUE crossing the 250,000 sales mark shows the group’s steady fanbase expansion. In the streaming category, HUNTR/X’s “Golden” — from the animated film KPop Demon Hunters — and DK (December)’s 2023 heartfelt ballad “Heart” both surpassed 100 million streams, earning their Platinum streaming badges.
