Brutal Netflix Movie: Cast, Plot and Release Date of the New Spanish Thriller

Netflix has a talent for Spanish thrillers that hook you from the first scene, and its next one sounds like a dark, gripping watch. Brutal is now filming in Madrid, and the first details are out. Here’s everything we know so far.

Brutal : Overview

What Is Brutal About?

The story begins with a terrible crime from 1999, when six minors killed a child and never served any time. Twenty-four years later, a shocking and seemingly inexplicable murder pulls Inspector Álex Lazkano back into that buried past. Her investigation leads her to Ágata, a warm and gentle woman whose calm exterior may hide something much darker. The film asks how long the truth can stay hidden and what someone would do to keep it that way.

Meet the Cast

Bárbara Lennie plays Inspector Álex Lazkano. Viewers may know her from God’s Crooked Lines and Bitter Christmas. Carmen Machi takes the role of Ágata, and her credits include Mother’s Love, Celeste and Netflix’s A Widow’s Game.

The supporting cast includes Tristán Ulloa, Marta Nieto, Luis Callejo, Javier Godino and Javier Beltrán, all familiar faces from recent Spanish hits.

The Team Behind the Camera

Director Albert Pintó also serves as executive producer alongside Urko Errazquin. His Netflix work includes the thriller Nowhere and the Money Heist spinoff Berlin. Writer Jordi Vallejo previously worked on Netflix’s The Innocent. Producer MOD Producciones has a strong track record, with credits such as Agora and Biutiful.

When Will Brutal Release on Netflix?

Netflix hasn’t set a release date. With cameras only just rolling, a 2027 debut at the earliest seems realistic. For now, the streamer has released one first-look image of the two leads.
