Border 2 Box Office: Sunny Deol’s Military Drama Crosses Rs 305 Crore — But Is the Party Finally Over?

After five weeks of a solid theatrical run, Border 2 is now firmly in its final stretch. The Anurag Singh directorial, starring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty, collected just Rs. 15 lakh on its 5th Wednesday — a significant drop that signals the curtain is nearly down at the box office.

Let’s be real: Rs. 305+ crore is no small feat. But for a film that stormed Week 1 with a massive Rs. 210 crore, the eventual total feels a tad underwhelming compared to what it could have been.

A Hit — But Not the Blockbuster It Could’ve Been

The film is now projected to wrap its theatrical run somewhere between Rs. 306–308 crore nett, depending on how it holds in Week 6 against fresh competition from The Kerala Story 2 and the Tere Naam re-release. Understanding box office revenue dynamics makes it clear that Week 1 dominance rarely guarantees a long tail — and Border 2 is textbook proof of that.

Still, context matters. The film clinched a clean Hit verdict, becoming Sunny Deol’s second highest-grossing film ever (after Gadar 2) and a career-best for Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty. That’s not nothing — that’s actually quite a big deal for the Hindi film industry in 2026.

The real story here is strong weekends but below-par weekday performance, which is why the final figure stayed well short of blockbuster territory. We’ve been tracking this pattern closely at technosports.co.in — films with patriotic themes tend to see front-loaded collections in India.
