Blue Box Season 2 Release Date: Everything to Know About Taiki and Chinatsu’s Return

The wait is almost over. Blue Box Season 2 finally lands on Netflix this October, picking back up with one of anime’s most quietly beloved sports-romance stories — and fans have been counting down since the finale first aired.

Blue Box Season 2 — Key Details

What Is Blue Box About?

Based on Kouji Miura’s manga Ao no Hako, the series follows Taiki Inomata, a badminton-playing freshman at Eimei Senior High, who’s quietly in love with Chinatsu Kano — a second-year and the ace of the girls’ basketball team. Season 1 spent 25 episodes building their relationship from awkward admiration into something more, adapting the first 79 chapters of the manga across its run.

When and Why the Renewal Happened

Blue Box’s second season was confirmed at the end of March, shortly after the 25th and final episode of Season 1 aired. TMS Anime’s official channels announced the renewal with a promotional video, though fans had to wait several months for a concrete release date. Netflix has now confirmed October 4, 2026, as the premiere for new episodes.

How Far Will Season 2 Go?

At the time of writing, the manga has 196 published chapters. If Season 2 follows a similar pacing to Season 1 — adapting a comparable volume range — it’s expected to wrap around Volume 18, likely ending near chapter 161. That would put the anime roughly halfway through the current manga, leaving plenty of story left for a potential third season.

Sports-romance titles like Blue Box sit within a broader tradition of Japanese storytelling blending competitive drama with slow-burn emotional arcs, a hallmark of shōnen manga aimed at younger audiences but loved well beyond that demographic.

Should You Watch Before Season 2 Drops?

If you haven’t caught up, Season 1’s 25 episodes are a manageable binge before the October premiere — and given how tightly the story tracks the manga, jumping in fresh with the full first season under your belt will make the new episodes land even harder.
