Good news for anime fans — Blue Box is officially coming back! After a wildly successful first season, Netflix has confirmed Blue Box Season 2 for an October 2026 release. If you’ve been emotionally invested in Taiki and Chinatsu’s story, buckle up — things are about to get even more intense.
What Is Blue Box?
Blue Box (Ao no Hako) is a Japanese Netflix Original anime adapted from Kouji Miura’s manga, produced by Telecom Animation Film, written and directed by Yūichirō Yano. It follows Taiki Inomata, a freshman badminton player hopelessly in love with Chinatsu Kano, the star of the girls’ basketball team. It’s sports, romance, and teenage feelings done right.

How Much of the Manga Will Season 2 Cover?
The manga currently has 196 published chapters. Season 1’s 25 episodes covered the first 79 chapters across volumes 1–9. If Season 2 follows a similar pace, it is expected to end around Volume 18, covering up to roughly chapter 161 — a point manga readers will find very significant.
To understand why manga adaptations matter so much for pacing and story quality, Wikipedia’s article on manga gives great context on how the format shapes anime storytelling.
When Was It Renewed?
The renewal was announced at the end of March 2026, right after the 25th and final episode of Season 1 aired. The TMS Anime YouTube channel dropped a teaser video confirming the news — and the internet lost it (in the best way possible).
