Sports anime rarely does slow-burn romance well — but Blue Box somehow nails both, and fans have been counting down the days since the finale left things wide open. The wait is finally over: Netflix has locked in a release date, and the second season is set to pick up right where the emotional rollercoaster left off.
Based on Kouji Miura’s manga Ao no Hako, the series follows Taiki Inomata, a badminton player nursing feelings for basketball ace Chinatsu Kano — a will-they-won’t-they dynamic wrapped in genuinely solid sports drama. Season 1 turned it into one of Netflix’s most talked-about anime releases, and Season 2 looks ready to keep that momentum going.

Why This Release Matters
Season 1 covered a fairly brisk chunk of the source material, and if Season 2 follows the same pace, fans can expect the story to push deep into more dramatic territory — the kind of arc that manga readers already know is coming. That makes the countdown to October even more exciting for anyone trying to avoid spoilers.
The romantic tension between Taiki and Chinatsu remains the emotional core, but it’s the show’s grounded approach to competitive sports and everyday high school stakes that’s kept it from feeling like just another romance anime. With a confirmed trailer already out, anticipation is building fast.
