Blood Sacrifice on Netflix: The Swedish Crime Thriller That’s About to Take Over Your August

If you loved Lupin, brace yourself — its creator is back with something darker, colder, and deeply gripping. Netflix’s upcoming Swedish crime thriller Blood Sacrifice (originally titled Blodsoffer) is everything Scandi noir fans have been waiting for.

Blood Sacrifice: Overview

What’s It About?

Set during a Stockholm summer — where the sun barely sets — Blood Sacrifice kicks off with a chilling 911 call about a home invasion in the archipelago. Two police officers are dispatched. They find nothing… until their bodies surface the next morning.

What follows is a spine-chilling pattern: someone is hunting police officers. A lead detective, Thomas Berg, has no choice but to rope in his estranged father Alfred — a retired detective — to crack the case. It’s a father-son story wrapped inside a brutal murder mystery, and the Nordic backdrop makes it all the more haunting.

Think of it as Scandi noir at its most emotionally raw.

The Cast That Makes It Work

Jakob Oftebro (known from Norsemen on Netflix) plays Thomas, the desperate detective. Peter Andersson — who played the sinister Nils Bjurman in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo trilogy — brings Alfred to life with his trademark quiet intensity. These two carry the emotional core of the show.

Why You Should Watch It

George Kay, the mastermind behind Lupin, has described the show as “a love story between an estranged father and son… wrapped inside a dark, adrenalised Scandi noir crime drama.” That’s not marketing speak — that’s a promise.
