All you need to know about Epic Game’s new Unreal Engine 5

Gaming is an emotion for many of us. It not only helps us to spent bowring times smoothly but also makes us refresh. Lots of passionate game developers and graphic designers are working to enhance our experience better than ever. Epic Games releases some of the details of their game engine Unreal Engine’s next version. That is called Unreal Engine 5.

Brian Karis, the technical director of graphics and Jerome Platteaux, the art director of special projects at Epic Games, explained two new technologies added to the latest version of their engine. These two technologies are named by the company as Nanite and Lumen. We can say, these are the two reasons for Unreal Engine 5 to become the next generation bringer.

Nanite:

In simplest words, Nanite virtualized micropolygon geometry is a technology to enhance all the smallest details our eye can detect and that is also in real-time. The entire process brings all the required assets as ZBrush sculpts, photogrammetry scans, CAD data, and more instantly and that is also not compromising the quality.

“Nanite geometry is streamed and scaled in real time so there are no more polygon count budgets, polygon memory budgets, or draw count budgets; there is no need to bake details to normal maps or manually author LODs; and there is no loss in quality.”

Lumen:

As per the company’s description, Lumen is a fully dynamic global illumination solution. And it can react on scene and light changes. This technology can render diffuse illuminations at a large scale from millimeter to kilometer for a far better environment dealing.

“Artists and designers can create more dynamic scenes using Lumen, for example, changing the sun angle for time of day, turning on a flashlight, or blowing a hole in the ceiling, and indirect lighting will adapt accordingly.”

The Unreal Engine 5 will be available in preview in early 2021 and full release at the last of 2021. The company informs Fortnite will be the first game to get Unreal Engine 5 treatment.

Moto Edge+ 5G launching in India on May 19

Motorola released the Edge series including the Edge+ last month, but then there was no news about the India launch of the device. Later on we came to know that the flagship Moto Edge+ will be available in India soon and most probably in the month of May.

Now Flipkart has set up a promotion page for the launch of Moro Edge plus which is on May 19, 12pm. The page shows some basic details of the device like the waterfall-display, dual speaker, camera resolution, fast charging, and 5G connectivity.

Specifications of Moto Edge+ 5G:

The global version of Motorola Edge+ 5G comes with a curved 6.7″ FHD+ OLED waterfall-display with a 90Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ certification.

Motorola Edge+ 5G may come with a triple rear camera setup including a 108MP primary camera with f/1.8 aperture and 0.8-micron pixel size like the global version. The main camera is capable of recording 6K videos at 30fps. It is assisted by a 16MP ultra-wide-angle camera with an f/2.2 aperture and 117-degree field of view. There is also an 8MP telephoto camera that comes with OIS support and provides a 3x optical zoom output. Motorola has also provided a Time of Flight (ToF) sensor in this device. There is a 25MP camera on the front with an f/2.0 aperture and 0.9-micron pixel size housed in a punch-hole cut at the top left corner of the display.

Motorola Edge+ 5G features the Qualcomm’s top-of-the-line Snapdragon 865 SoC packing alongside 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM. There is a non-expandable 256GB of UFS 3.0 storage on the phone.

Motorola Edge+ 5G is powered by a 5000mAh battery that supports 18W fast charging, 15W wireless charging, and 5W reverse wireless charging.

Interestingly, the Motorola Edge+ retains the 3.5mm headphone jack. There is also an in-display fingerprint sensor for authentication. The global version of Motorola Edge+ 5G is available in Smoky Sangria and Thunder Grey colour options.

AMD launches Athlon 3000G APU at $49, now supports overclocking

Finally, at the 2020 NVIDIA GTC keynote, NVIDIA’s CEO Jensen Huang has launched the new 7 nm based Ampere GPU architecture. Instead of launching the GeForce RTX 3000 gaming GPUs, NVIDIA has launched the high performing A100 GPU that is the company;s new 7nm GPU offering.

The newer GPUs by the company will be based on the same architecture as Huang clarified that “there’s great overlap in the architecture, but not in the configuration.” From GeForce gaming GPUs to Quadro professional GPUs, the same tech behind the A100 GPU unveiled will be used in future.

NVIDIA’s new NVIDIA A100 Tensor Core GPU is based on the new NVIDIA Ampere GPU architecture and builds upon the capabilities of the prior NVIDIA Tesla V100 GPU. It adds many new features and delivers significantly faster performance for HPC, AI, and data analytics workloads.

A100 provides strong scaling for GPU compute and DL applications running in single– and multi-GPU workstations, servers, clusters, cloud data centres, systems at the edge, and supercomputers. The A100 GPU enables building elastic, versatile, and high throughput data centres.

The new NVIDIA A100 GPU fabricated on the TSMC 7nm N7 manufacturing process, the NVIDIA Ampere architecture-based GA100 GPU that powers A100 includes 54.2 billion transistors with a die size of 826 mm2. The new chip also features the third generation of Tensor Cores that have a new numerical format called Tensor Float 32 (TF32) replacing the older FP32.

The NVIDIA A100 GPU has 40 GB of high-speed HBM2 memory with 1555 GB/sec of memory bandwidth—a 73% increase compared to Tesla V100. The A100 GPU has significantly more on-chip memory including a 40 MB Level 2 (L2) cache—nearly 7x larger than V100.

The new Multi-Instance GPU (MIG) feature allows the A100 Tensor Core GPU to be securely partitioned into as many as seven separate GPU Instances for CUDA applications, providing multiple users with separate GPU resources to accelerate their applications.

The third-generation of NVIDIA high-speed NVLink interconnect implemented in A100 GPUs and the new NVIDIA NVSwitch significantly enhances multi-GPU scalability, performance, and reliability. NVIDIA is supposed to be offering 8 A100 GPUs combined in a single DGX A100 node with a peak performance of 5 PFLOPs of computing performance for US$200,000.

The A100 GPU will also support PCI Express Gen 4 with faster bandwidth than before and the A100 GPUs will be able to connect to PCIe 4.0-capable CPUs, currently on AMD Zen-2 based CPUs. It seems strange that NVIDIA did not launch the new RTX 3000 gaming GPUs, well they might be waiting for its competitor AMD to launch RDNA2 based gaming GPUs first.

Barcelona has started individual training for their players. Messi was asked about the Champions League second leg last-16 tie against Napoli, ahead of a possible August restart. The four-time Champions League winner issued a warning for Barcelona.

Messi told Sport.”I never doubted the squad we have and I have no doubt that we can win all that remains, but not by playing in the way we were playing.”

“Now, everyone has their opinion and they are all very respectable. Mine is based on the fact that I was lucky to play the Champions League every year and I know that it is not possible to win it by playing as we have been playing. Perhaps Setien misunderstood.”

“This break may end up benefiting us, but we are going to see if they can start the competitions and there we will leave doubts because we will check the level that we have or can reach when we start. Going back to training is a first step but we should not trust ourselves and we must continue taking all the necessary precautions and assume that we have to start playing the games when they arrive but behind closed doors.”

The new feather of Mi accessories, Mi AirDots 2SE is released and will be on sale from this 19th in China.

You may get confused to distinguish between AirDots 2 SE and AirDots Pro 2. Cause these two look quite similar. The new one comes with 14.2 mm drivers and has support for AAC. There is touch control to navigate all functionalities. You can handle the music, take, reject, or cut the calls and wake up your mobile assistant. To make your life a bit easier the company added Wear Detection. So, the music automatically stops when you remove the earphones.

The AirDots 2 SE pairs with your device through Bluetooth 5.0 and can hold the connection up to 10 meters of range. You can use it around 5 hours long and with the case, the charge lasts long up to 20 hours. The case has a Type-C port to get charged and required 1.5 hours at 5W to rise at the pic. Lastly, the earphone has dual-microphone noise reduction.

MediaTek revealed its Dimensity 1000+ chipset a week ago and at that event, VIVO’s gaming branch iQOO announced a new 5G smartphone that will come with that chipset. Now the official Weibo account has revealed the launch date of the smartphone with some key features. The launch date is not very far as it is set on May 19. Last month the brand has released another flagship gaming smartphone iQOO Neo 3 5G with some of the best features.

The design of the device has been leaked in several renders as well as in official posters. iQOO Z1 5G will have a single punch hole display. The real image of the phone is discovered by Digital Chat Station, a well known Weibo based leakster, which shows the front display panel and a 144Hz refresh rate of the screen.

Now coming to the specifications of Z1, we get to see that the phone will come with a 144Hz display, single front camera, triple rear camera setup, MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ chipset with dual 5G connectivity, 4500mAh battery, and a 44W fast charging tech. These informations have been revealed by iQOO Weibo official in the past few days.

Recently iQOO Weibo has also revealed the official design and the colour options for the device. The Z1 5G will be available in two different colour options similar to the iQOO Neo 3 5G. The pre-registrations for iQOO Z1 5G have already opened at some Chinese retailers, and people who will sign up now will be among the first to learn about the launch of the Z1 on May 19, Tuesday.

This device from iQOO will be a mid-range smartphone as it packs in the premium chipset for mid-range devices from MediaTek. The triple rear camera also indicates the low price margins for the device.

The Red team has recently launched a new 7nm based CPU for industrial/professional usage. The new Radeon Pro VII workstation GPU is aimed towards works like 8K video editing, broadcasting and media, computer-aided engineering (CAE).

AMD lacks in the professional GPU front and here NVIDIA shines with some its flagship GPUs like the Quadro RTX 5000 or the even costlier NVIDIA Quadro GV100. AMD says that its new GPU can be the cost-efficient solution to the Quadro RTX 5000 and a great alternative towards the Quadro GV100.

As we see in the picture, NVIDIA Quadro RTX 5000 costs $2299 while the AMD Radeon Pro VII costs $1,899, on the other hand, NVIDIA Quadro GV100 costs $8999. According to the infographic shown below, AMD has rightfully compared its new GPU against its competitor’s both the offerings.

The AMD Radeon Pro VII GPU has a 7nm based Vega 20 architecture with 3840 stream processors and 60 Compute Units. It features 16 GB of HBM2 4096-bit memory with 1TB/s memory bandwidth with support for ECC memory.

The card has a combined Peak Double Precision (FP64) Performance of 13.1 TFLOPs when compared to NVIDIA, the Quadro RTX 5000 which has only 5.6 TFLOPs of FP64 performance and Quadro GV100 having 7.4 TFLOPs of FP64 performance only.

Featuring the latest PCIe gen 4.0, the GPU offers 4 times more PCIe bandwidth and the Infinity Fabric Link gives the ability to directly connect two GPUs together via an ultra-high-speed interconnect, effectively forming a combined pool of GPU memory, which can increase performance and reduce latency.

AMD’s Infinity Fabric Link is said to be 118 GB/s faster than NVIDIA’s NVLink between two of its Quadro RTX 5000s, the new increased PCIe gen 4 bandwidth makes things much more faster for the red team.

The AMD Radeon Pro VII has 6x DisplayPort 1.4 along with one 8-pin and one 6-pin connectors. It has a lower TDP of 250 W compared to the 295 W TDP of the previous Radeon VII.

The GPU’s 6 display ports can handle up to six FHD displays together or a single 8K panel. Four of the GPUs can be combined as a cluster and can be synced via an AMD FirePro S400 Sync Module called “The Chief”, this helps to drive up to 24 displays in sync for digital signage or walls.

AMD has comapared the GPU’s performance against the Quadro RTX 5000 in the following images:

Both of GPUs go head-to-head with each other with AMD having a little advantage and most important it keeps cooler than the NVIDIA counter-part. The key performance that the Radeon VII Pro enjoys is during digital compositing in Nuke 12.1 and 8K editing in DaVinci Resolve Studio.

The new AMD Radeon ProRender 2.0 technology is a powerful physically-based rendering engine that enables creative professionals to produce stunningly photorealistic images.

Built on AMD’s high-performance Radeon™ Rays technology, Radeon™ ProRender’s complete, scalable ray tracing engine uses open industry standards to harness GPU and CPU performance for swift, impressive results. AMD even claims that the ProRender 2.0 can reduce render times by nearly half when combined with a Ryzen Threadripper CPU.

The AMD Radeon Pro VII will make its way to the market from mid-June 2020 at $1,899 (US) whereas, the OEM Workstations powered by Radeon Pro VII are expected to make its way in the second half of 2020. Check out more about the GPU from here.

One of the most popular game since 2013 is undoubtedly GTA V and when speculations are arising of the game’s next instalment to come next year, Epic Games has declared it free. From its inception in 2018 Epic Games Store has rolled a number of games for free.

Having distributed Square Enix’s Just Cause 4 to the public, they are planning for an even bigger giveaway. According to the deleted tweet from Epic Games Store which was captured by Twitter user @Wario64, the official account of Epic Games Store has confirmed in a short video that they will be giving away Grand Theft Auto V for free on their platform.

You’ll be able to redeem the game for free on PC and keep forever till May 21st, a countdown timer on the Epic Game Store page of the launcher shows a ‘mystery game’ to be coming along with Death Coming, another title that can be redeemed for free, provided you have 2FA enabled on the platform.

This can be a game changing move by Epic Games Store because GTA V has been the most popular game ever with a strong multiplayer community. With loads of singe-player campaigns and hours worth of gameplay, this game is the perfect companion for lockdown days, this is a quite a surprising move for Rockstar games as well.

After being hit hard by the Coronavirus pandemic, Bundesliga is gearing up for its return on this weekend. The German government gave the green light to resume the 2019-20 Bundesliga season last Wednesday. It is the first major football league to resume the season.

The Revierderby between Borussia Dortmund and Schalke will open the things for Bundesliga, marking the 1st round of games. There will be eight rounds of fixtures in total to finish the season. The season has been planned to end on 27th June.
