Salesforce to buy Slack in the biggest business deal yet

0

San Francisco-based Salesforce is the world’s largest provider of customer relationship management (CRM) services. The company is in talks to buy Slack in a deal. Analysts claim that the deal is big enough to reshape the future of online business communications. Last year the company paid a sum of $15 billion to buy Seattle’s Tableau Software. But the deal to buy Slack even crosses the $15 billion mark.

Salesforce sells enterprise application software focused on customer service, marketing automation, analytics, and application development. On the other hand, Slack offers an eponymous business communication platform with multiple IRC-style features, including persistent chat rooms (channels) organized by topic, private groups, and direct messaging.

According to sources, Slack had 2,431 employees worldwide at the end of July. Salesforce, on the other hand, has a total of over 49,000 employees. Slacks’ market value is estimated to be more than $20 billion, while Salesforce’s worth is a whopping sum of $230 billion.

Slack’s biggest competitor is Microsoft, whose own business communication software, Teams, has become one of the industry’s biggest names. Teams have around 115 million daily active users. On the other hand, Slack has more than 12 million daily active users and over 119,000 paid customers and is, without a doubt, one of the largest players in the sector.

Salesforce will be hosting its annual ‘Dreamforce’ conference next week, which will be virtual due to the on-going pandemic. But till now, neither Slack nor Salesforce has given any official statement regarding the deal. Many predict that the acquisition will be announced during the Dreamforce event. If not, we have to wait until next year to hear about the acquisition details finally.

China is importing Computer Chips from Taiwan

0

In this pandemic, when the world economy is going down, Taiwan’s exports are growing. As per the report, exports of Taiwan have increased by six percent during July-September of this year. This increase is for the high demand for technology business in China. It is said that Chinese technology companies are buying Taiwanese computer chips and semiconductors.

Some of the world’s top computer chips are made in Taiwan. Taiwan now is able to force the companies not to depend on the Chinese market. China wants to develop the latest 5G telecommunication technology.

Alicia Garcia Herrero, the chief Asia-Pacific economist, said “They know they’re not yet able to produce at least the highest-end semiconductors needed for 5G.” She also said that Taiwan is the leader in making top-level semiconductors.

Taiwan’s maximum exports to China are of technology equipment. $27.2 billion of Taiwan’s total $90 billion in exports went to China. More than one-third of the $32.9 billion in exports from the grouping of products that covers semiconductors, was bought by Chinese importers.

As we all know, TSMC is the World’s largest chipmaker and between July to September of this year, the company made an earning of 22% of its total earning from China only.

Brady Wang, market intelligence business Counterpoint Research in Taipei told, “A lot of these goods are being sold in China because China is actually stockpiling inventor. The reason for stockpiling is the recent state of Sino-U.S. relations — not just Huawei.”

Chinese tech companies are aiming for self-reliance by depending less on foreign supply. Garcia Herrero stated, “Self-reliance from China doesn’t mean full self-reliance because they’re not yet ready and I think that’s going to boost in a way that semiconductor industry even further in Taiwan.”

Sony has a patent for a new PSVR PS5 headset

0

The launch of the next-gen consoles has our heads rolling all over the place. With high-performing hardware and a series of exclusive titles, the next-gen consoles have redefined the gaming era. The DualSense controller introduced with the PlayStation 5 is already making news and we may soon have another high-end controller for Sony’s PlayStation 5.

According to sources, there is an alleged patent that indicates a new PSVR headset is in development for the PlayStation 5. The leaked sources indicate that the potential PS5 design for the headset would add LED lighting and haptic feedback. The features are already available in the DualSense controller and we have seen how amazing the effects are.

We have also seen another patent from Sony for a one-handed controller with one analog stick. And the leaked PSVR headset means that Sony is planning to add some new and exciting features to its PS5 controllers. For users who cannot wait till Sony finishes with its new product can purchase the PSVR headset currently available in the market with the PS5. Sony also offers a free PlayStation Camera adaptor to allow current PSVR owners to use their headset and camera along with the new system.

“The PlayStation Camera adaptor is used to connect the PlayStation®Camera* (sold for the PlayStation®4 console) to a PlayStation®5 console. This allows the use of PlayStation®VR when playing supported PS4™ games on a PS5™ console, including games that require PlayStation®Move or PlayStation®VR aim controllers. The new HD camera for PS5 is not compatible with PS VR. You will need to use the PS Camera (for PS4) with a PlayStation Camera adaptor (no purchase required) to use PS VR on PS5.”

We know that Sony has two patents ready for the upcoming PS5 accessories. It would be interesting to see what new flavors the manufacturer will bring to its already existing technology.

Apple M1 Mac mini is facing issues with Bluetooth connectivity

1

Apple has made its M1 Mac mini available starting from November 17 this year. And even though the device has managed to impress the users and critics with its performance, it is in no way with out flaws. Now, some users have started to complain that the new machine is giving them lots of grievances with respect to  Bluetooth connectivity issues.

The M1 Mac mini can pretty much handle anything thrown it’s way, in terms of productivity tasks. But unfortunately, in terms of connecting to wireless peripherals via Bluetooth, the device is giving issues to its users. According to a YouTuber, Patrick Tomasso, he cannot connect both the Logitech MX Master 3 or his Apple Magic Mouse 2 to the M1 Mac mini wirelessly. Other owners have also been experienced similar issues with the device.

“I am using the Logitech Mx keys keyboard, and MX Master 3 mouse. On the very first boot, it would not recognize the keyboard or mouse as available to pair via Bluetooth. I resorted to a wired keyboard and mouse to get through the setup. After that, I was able to pair both, and they work great. However any time I reboot the machine, I can’t log in because the keyboard and mouse are not connected. Using the wired keyboard lets me log in, and then the Bluetooth keyboard and mouse start working again. I’ve submitted a bug report, but I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced this.”

Well, it is true that a hard reset is always an option to fix things when it comes to Apple devices. but for those unlucky ones who still didn’t get the problem solved have to wait for Apple to release a software update to remedy the issue. However, If it’s a hardware malfunction, then we are looking at a whole new scenario where M1 Mac mini owners will have to visit their Apple store or authorized service outlets. So let’s hope for everyone’s sake that the problem is related to software and will be fixed by the next update.

0

As part of the latest COVID-19 regulations brought out by the United Kingdom government, up to 2,000 fans will now be allowed in Premier League clubs’ stadiums that are part of the Tier-2 allocation while clubs falling under the Tier-3 category will not be allowed to have any fans whatsoever.

There is also a Tier-1 allocation which allows for a maximum attendance of up to 4000 fans, however, no Premier League club’s area comes under that category. This will come as a welcome move to some football clubs’ fans who have been wanting to go and watch the matches live in the grounds.

It is understood that this division sees an equal distribution of 10 clubs in Tier-2, which can welcome 2000 fans, but 10 clubs in the high-risk areas of Tier-3 that for the time being due to the safety protocols will not allow any fans at all.

Some of the nation’s areas such as Liverpool City Region, London,  Surrey, Southampton and Brighton & Hove have been declared as part of Tier-2 and are relatively in the safer zone with lesser infected cases.

The areas in Tier-3 consist of the likes of Greater Manchester, Birmingham, Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, Leeds, City of Wolverhampton and Leicestershire are in the most risky zones with the greatest chances of increased COVID-19 cases.

Whilst the likes of Manchester United, Manchester City, Aston Villa, Wolves, Newcastle and Leeds United will still be under the radar and subject to no fans inside the stadium.

However, the UK government has promised to review the tiering system back in a parliamentary procedure on December 16, and the fans of Tier-3 clubs will hope that they too are in the clear, so that they can go and watch their respective favourite teams.

Ever since joining Chelsea after his contract at PSG expired, Thiago Silva has helped to completely transform Chelsea’s defense. Frank Lampard had a difficult first season in charge of his former playing club, and the Englishman struggled to build cohesion at the backline.

The Brazilian is pivotal to Lampard’s new look centre-back partnership and has really settled in with Kurt Zouma alongside him. Chelsea originally recruited the 36-year-old on a one year deal. However, there was an option for the club to extend the deal by a year.

As per numerous reports coming out of the British capital, Chelsea are reportedly interested in extending Silva’s contract till 2022.

The saying that age is just a number is perfectly brought to life by the veteran defender. Despite him being well past his prime, he has adapted well to the English style of football, often deemed the most difficult league in the world.

Chelsea’s defensive numbers speak for themselves. They have conceded only one goal in the Champions League, and have the best defensive record of all the participating teams. Despite being three games into the competition, they had conceded no goals alongside fellow English club Liverpool.

In the Premier League, they have conceded 10 goals and have the joint-highest goal difference in the league alongside London rivals Spurs.

The player himself has expressed his happiness when it comes to playing for Chelsea multiple times. His physical prowess might not be at its best, but he can still perform on the pitch and offer stability to the Chelsea time.

Having the likes of Mendy and Zouma alongside him, communication is not a problem due to all three players knowing French. This has helped Chelsea immensely improve on their backline and extending Silva’s contract will be a great move by the club to secure the next season as well.
