Phil Foden and Mason Greenwood apologises after breaching COVID-19 rules and facing a 4 match ban along with a fine

0

Phil Foden and Mason Greenwood play for Manchester’s two arch-rivals. Foden represents the blue side of the city whereas Greenwood wears the red shirt with pride.

Both the youngsters were handed their England debut by Gareth Southgate in the UEFA Nations League match against Iceland.

But on the weekend, the Manchester players were found guilty of breaching COVID-19 rules and regulations. They have been alleged to have brought girls into their hotel room while on England duty in Iceland over the weekend.

According to reports in the Icelandic media, the players met two girls in a separate part of the Reykjavik hotel away from where the England team were staying and invited them to their room.

Manchester City player Phil Foden was the first to issue an apology letter. He took to Twitter to apologise to Gareth Southgate, his England team-mates, staffs, supporters and also to his club and family.

Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood was next in line to issue an apology for his conduct during international duty. He said: “Having now had the chance to reflect on what’s happened, I can only apologise to everyone for the embarrassment I have caused.”

“It was irresponsible of me to break the COVID-19 protocols which are in place to protect players, staff and the public.”

“In particular, I want to apologise to Gareth Southgate, for letting him down, when he had shown great trust in me. Playing for England was one of the proudest moments in my life and I only have myself to blame for this huge mistake.”

“I promise my family, the fans, Manchester United and England that this is a lesson I will learn from.”

England boss Southgate told reporters on Monday: “It’s a very serious situation and we have treated it that way and have acted as quickly as we have been able to. We have dealt with it appropriately. I recognise their age but the whole world is dealing with this pandemic.”

“Nothing has happened in the areas we occupy in the team hotel.”

“We are still getting to the depths of all the information because it was only brought to my attention only a couple of hours before training. “We had to decide very quickly that they couldn’t have any interaction with the rest of the team, wouldn’t be able to travel to training.”

“Given the procedures that we have to follow now, they’ll have to travel back to England separately.”

The Sun has now reported that the pair have arrived back in Manchester on Monday night. They have been handed a 4 match ban by the England FA.

They will miss England’s game against Denmark on Tuesday. They will also not be considered for the matches against Wales, Belgium and Denmark again next month as punishment.

The Icelandic police have also fined the duo 250,000 Icelandic Krona (£1,300) for the rule breach during the coronavirus pandemic. This fine must be paid by the individual players themselves and not by the FA or their clubs.

LaLiga 2020-21 season preview: Can Atletico Madrid lift the title?

0

With the 2020-21 season of the top flight of Spanish football almost upon us, we’ve decided to take a look at the teams that are most likely to make the top four. The first in line is Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid.

Key Players

  1. Jan Oblak
  2. Joao Felix
  3. Koke
  4. Jose Maria Gimenez
  5. Yannick Carrasco

Jan Oblak is one of the highest-rated goalkeepers in Europe right now. Some even consider him the best. While every team needs a decent shot-stopper, the defence is what wins matches and Jose Jimenez can give the Rojiblancos exactly that.

After spending €126 million on Joao Felix, it is time that the Portuguese wonderkid lives up to his price tag and deliver quality in attack. Yannick Carrasco has returned to Atletico last season from China. He has shown sparks of his brilliance throughout the last part of the campaign. In his next full season for Atletico, he can truly flourish under Simeone.

Tying the team together, captain Koke is one of the most vital parts of Diego Simeone’s side. His leadership qualities and defensive output are unmatchable.

Winning Points

Diego Simeone is heralded as one of the best defensive-minded coaches in all of Europe. Atletico conceded only 27 goals in 38 games last season. In other words, they were in second place in the least goals conceded list by beating everybody but Real Madrid.

Via Thisisanfield

Therefore, it is safe to say that Diego Simeone will once again take to his 4-4-2 to display one of the best defences in Europe once more.

Atletico have shown enormous signs of quality last season. For example, their victory against Liverpool both at home and away. Shutting out one of the best sides in Europe really does take something special, and Simeone’s men have what it takes to make it.

Challenges

Defence is the most important aspects of the game, and that has been taken care of with Simeone at the helm. However, the problem lies in the other areas of the pitch.

Atletico are sometimes caught out when they have to break down oppositions that sit deep. There has to be a more consistent creative element in midfield. If that doesn’t happen, they run the risk of falling prey to their own tricks.

The attackers need to be more clinical and take their chances regularly. With a season’s worth of experience under his belt, the responsibility to deliver now lies on Joao Felix, as well as the now permanent Atletico player, Alvaro Morata.

Transfer Activity

The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in the loss of millions in the form of match revenue. With that in mind, it is easy to see why clubs are choosing not to spend big in the transfer market.

The only business Atletico have done this far is finalising the permanent transfer of forward Alvaro Morata from Chelsea. However, he was already with them and it doesn’t really count as a new transfer.

Apart from that, they have been linked with the signing of free agent and former PSG talisman Edinson Cavani. As of now, there is no update on the move.

Predicted Finish: 2nd

While this might be a bold claim, I believe in it wholeheartedly. With Barcelona in shambles, there is no team that can quite match the likes of Real Madrid except for Atletico.

In conclusion, my prediction is that they will take the fight to the rest of the league. However, they will have to be content with 2nd place. That is, unless Simeone can get it all right this time out.

Vivo announces an RBGW sensor for its upcoming smartphones

Vivo is well known for putting some nice camera tech in their phone like some big sensors then recently they even announced a proprietary optical stabilization for the Vivo X50 Pro and now the company announced their own camera sensor.

The new sensor is using the RGBW color filter which can capture up to 160% more light than a conventional sensor that uses the RGGB color filter. Vivo also claims that the new RBGW sensor will be able to collect 15% more light than Huawei P30’s RYYB sensor. So, in theory, this sensor would be the best in class but we can’t come to a conclusion till we see it in action and it is expected to make a debut sometime in the second half of 2021.

RGBW sensors are not something very new as it has been used by Sony earlier in some of its Xperia smartphones to gather as much as maximum light possible but it couldn’t survive for long due to lack of colors and resolution which can be solved by the modern current-gen algorithms.

Vivo also announced the Vision+ Mobile Photography Awards in association with National Geographic which will be awarding the best smartphone photographers. Further details regarding the Vision+ Mobile Photography Awards can be found on the respective websites of Vivo and National Geographic in the coming days.

The company is also well known for its periscope sensors which have been actively used by Vivo in its flagship from the last few years to provide lossless zoom without compromising on the photo quality. Some of the recent phones which used the periscope zoom camera were Vivo X30 Pro and Vivo X50 Pro / Pro + while the company has also patented a new smartphone with the periscope camera.

The X-factor which Andre Russell brings in to the Kolkata Knight Riders

The Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) is the front runner to qualify for the playoffs. One of the reasons why that is expected, is the hard-hitting West Indian all-rounder, Andre Russell.

Russell has been a staple for KKR throughout the franchise’s history. He is known for his brutal and fearless batting style. Russell can bowl effectively both during powerplay and death overs. And not to forget his athletic fielding.

The Knight Riders have made significant changes in their coaching panel with former KKR player, Brendan McCullum as the head coach. The franchise has also added T20 veteran David Hussey as a mentor and Kyle Mills as bowling coach. McCullum is known both for his aggressive batting and style of captaincy. His dynamic style of captaincy skyrocketed the New Zealand team to the World Cup 2019 finals.

(PC-My Khel)

The coaches want to promote Russell at No 3!

David Hussey believes McCullum will use such bold decision making in his coaching style as well. He says both him and McCullum are looking forward to promoting Russell at No 3 in the KKR batting line-up. Hussey claimed this will allow Russell to play more deliveries and if he gets a chance to play around 60 balls, he can even score a double hundred.

“If it benefits the team and helps us win games of cricket, why not? If that means Andre Russell comes in at three and bats 60 balls, he might actually make a double hundred. Anything can happen with Dre Russ,” Hussey said in a news conference.

“[Russel is] A fantastic player, he is probably almost the heartbeat of the team as well. We’ve actually got really a well-balanced team… Anyone can bat in any different position. But if it benefits the team, why not, why can’t he bat up the list.”

Russell showed sublime all-rounded performance last year when he scored 510 runs at an average of 56.66 and also picked up 11 wickets. Hussey also said they have the likes of Eoin Morgan and Dinesh Karthik to play the anchor role.

KKR is also famously known for using spin bowler Sunil Narine as a pinch hitter by promoting him to open. They will start their IPL 2020 campaign against Mumbai Indians on September 23.
