Rennes accept Chelsea’s offer for Edouard Mendy, official announcement coming soon

0

Chelsea had a very busy summer transfer market this season after completing a one-year transfer ban last season. To continue the process of rebuilding the squad Chelsea boss Frank Lampard has already signed some big names like Timo Werner, Hakim Ziyech, Kai Havertz, Ben Chilwell, Malang Sarr and Thiago Silva. Now they are keen to sign goalkeeper Eduardo Mendy from Rennes.

Chelsea had faced multiple problems in the goalkeeping position in the last two seasons. The performance of Kepa Arrizabalaga and Willy Caballero was not up to the mark. Kepa has faced a disastrous last season. It was expected that Frank Lampard will try to end the goalkeeping problems this summer.

At first, it was rumoured that Chelsea is trying to sign Jan Oblak from Atletico Madrid. But Atletico is not ready to sell their star goalkeeper. So Chelsea has now turned their eye on Mendy.

The 28-year-old French goalkeeper has kept 13 clean sheets for Rennes in his 33 appearances last season. Chelsea made a first bid of €20m which was rejected by Rennes as per some reports.

Now, Chelsea have offered around €30m to Rennes for Mendy.

According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Rennes has accepted the latest bid by Chelsea. Mendy is set to travel to London to complete his medicals as the transfer fee and the personal terms have already been agreed upon.

Edouard Mendy will be giving Kepa a tough run for the first-choice goalkeeping position. Kepa wasn’t at his best last season so it would definitely give Mendy a chance to shine at Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea will also consider a move for Declan Rice on following days but won’t pay €80m. West Ham United insist they don’t want to sell Rice but Chelsea wants him as Bakayoko is not in Lampard plans.

Gonzalo Higuain joins MLS side Inter Miami for free

0

Juventus boss Andrea Pirlo had already confirmed that Gonzalo Higuain will leave Juventus this summer.

Andrea Pirlo became Juventus manager replacing Maurizio Sarri after their defeat in the Champions League quarter-final against Lyon. Pirlo has decided to release some of the players from his project. Blaise Matuidi has already left the club for MLS side Inter Miami.

In a press interview Pirlo said: “We’ve decided together with Gonzalo Higuaín that he will leave the club this summer. He’s out of the project and we’re ready to let him go. Gonzalo has given so much but the story must close.”.

Gonzalo Higuain joined Juventus in 2016 after a fantastic spell with Napoli. But it didn’t work so well for him. In his four seasons at Turin, he was sent on loan to Chelsea and AC Milan.

Now, he is set to join MLS side Inter Miami.

Gonzalo Higuain will follow the footsteps of his Juventus teammate Matuidi and join David Beckham’s MLS side, Inter Miami. He has now signed the contract and will join them for free.

Higuain made 149 appearances for Juventus and has scored 66 goals. Last season under Maurizio Sarri he has scored only 11 goals in his 43 games. It is quite natural that he is not in the plan of Juventus’s new manager.

Kevin De Bruyne isn’t worried about Messi’s failed transfer to Manchester City

Lionel Messi decided to leave Barcelona this summer. He wasn’t happy with the board and the vision of the club. But Barcelona refused to sell him at any cost without receiving his release clause of 700 million euros.

Manchester City was the front runner for signing the Argentine but Barcelona was hell-bent not to let Messi leave. So, Messi finally decided to stay at Camp Nou for this season at least.

Manchester City playmaker Kevin De Bruyne was asked whether he still thinks about the failed Messi transfer. The Belgian replied that he has removed the failed transfer from his memory and is only looking forward.

Kevin De Bruyne told the Daily Mail: “To be honest, I didn’t really think about it. If it could have happened, it would have happened.”

“If you can get Messi to your team you are always going to do it. I can see it from a playing perspective and especially as a club.”

“Business wise, the amount of sponsors and money it would have attracted would have been huge. Even if you would have paid him a load of money, in a certain way you would get it all back. So I could understand the decision (to try) in that respect.

He reiterated: “I really don’t care. I really don’t. If he would have come it would have helped us because, for me, he has been the best player of all time. But I am never looking at what players may come and what may happen, you know.”

“You play with the players you have and I think we have a pretty good team in that respect. It would be stupid of me to assume what would happen if a certain player came. It happens in football all the time. People are supposed to come and eventually they don’t.”

“I was also pretty occupied at the time anyway (with the birth of his third child).”

The Premier League starts today but Manchester City will be kickstarting their 2020-21 campaign next weekend against Wolves.

This is how players react to their FIFA 21 ratings

0

Another year, another FIFA title and another set of players who think they should have been rated higher.

While fans have been quite vocal about their displeasure with EA about the ratings of a few players, the players themselves had a fair share of reactions to their video game avatars as well.

Taking to Twitter, here is what Manchester City centre-back Aymeric Laporte had to say:

Laporte is the fourth-best centre-back in the game behind Sergio Ramos, Virgil Van Dijk and Kalidou Koulibaly. A rather well-warranted reaction given his importance to the team and his superb performances on the pitch, however even the player himself has a hard time accepting his 63 pace.

Speaking of Van Dijk, who also took to Twitter to boast of his 90-rated card in FIFA:

An absolute wall at the back, Van Dijk is the best centre-back in the Premier League right now. His incredible display at the backline made sure that the Merseyside club soared ahead to the Premier League title in 31 games.

Fellow Liverpool defender had this to say to BBC’s Match of the Day upon being shown his FIFA 21 card. While he was not included in the top 100 last year, he is the highest-rated full-back this year. A very well-deserved upgrade to his card indeed.

Coming to the attackers, Romelu Lukaku was not too happy with his rating in FIFA 21. The Belgian striker voiced his displeasure on Twitter and this is what he had to say:

Sharing a disagreement with his FIFA rating, Aubameyang was a lot more composed in expressing his disagreement with the downgrade to his rating after an incredible last season leading the Gunners to FA Cup win and starting this season with FA Community Shield win.

This year’s FIFA ratings have not gone down well with the fans. FIFA player David Mariyasin launched a petition on change.org to make EA change their ratings this year. Fans all over the world have been bamboozled with EA’s latest reveal and it remains to be seen how the developers take action over the outrage.

GCCs based in India can provide cost savings up to 45% over 3 to 5 years, as per Nexdigm

0
  • ~50% of all Global Capability Centers (GCCs) are located in India
  • ~70% of India’s GCCs belong to US-headquartered companies
  • 180+ innovation centers in India belong to Fortune 500 companies
  • India-based GCCs continue to have a digital focus, and over 75% are investing in analytics, cloud technology, and robotic process automation
  • The southern and western parts of India have been the primary locations for most GCC establishments
  • Software plus Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance verticals account for almost 30% of the total installed talent base

Mumbai, September 12, 2020: With an increasing focus on digital, over 75% of India-based Global Capability Centers (GCCs) are investing across analytics, cloud migration, and robotic process automation, and over 50% in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and Internet of Things (IoT) as discussed during Nexdigm’s webinar on ‘India – A Favorable Destination for Global Capability Centers’. Nexdigm is a global business advisory organization serving clients from more than 50 countries leveraging its multifunctional, professional capabilities to help organizations set up Global Capability Centers (GCCs), manage and optimize existing GCCs, or provide outsourced services for their clients.

The webinar highlighted that 70% of India GCCs belong to US-headquartered companies, followed by 20% from Europe and 10% from the Asia-Pacific region. The session aimed to showcase the potential of GCCs in India and highlight how multinationals can leverage India’s sizable knowledge-driven workforce to their advantage. This can be in terms of business continuity, expanding their talent pool, strengthening their operations, and globalizing their back-offices.

The Indian GCC market size is approximately USD 28.3 billion (as of 2019), with over 1,750 centers and over one million employees. India’s skilled talent pool across sectors is set to increase to over 600 million by 2025. At present, ~50% ofall GCCs are located in India, and over 180 of these are not just capability centers but also innovation centers that belong to Fortune 500 companies. As per Nexdigm, with GCCs, there could be savings of up to 45% over an average time of three to five years.

Speaking at the Nexdigm webinar, Mr. Rajiv Kumar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Electronics & IT (MeITY), said, “Over the years, India has changed its perception from being a cost-center to an innovation center for GCCs. Today, we have more than 4 million people in the workforce within the IT sector, and nearly 1/4th of them work in GCCs. With more than 1,300 GCCs currently operating in India, we are seeing businesses expanding in diverse sectors, such as automobiles, semiconductors, aerospace, industrial automation, engineering, energy, and healthcare. With the vast talent pool, upgraded infrastructure, and right government policies, we have shown the world that India is a great marketplace to invest for GCCs.”

“Technological transformation will play a huge role in making us the e-commerce technology development capital of the world. Today, 80% of companies, either B2B or B2C, are doing business digitally in India. We are setting up ‘Startup SETU’ to enable Indian and global startups to engage, create, and build a better ecosystem in the country. We have also opened 20 centers of excellence across Tier II and Tier III cities to boost local talent,” he added further.

Factors such as a large educated talent pool, young demographics, infrastructure requirements across metro and smaller cities along with well established intra-country connectivity, and appropriate policy support have enabled India to maintain its leadership position in GCCs. India’s cost to value proposition is approximately 3 to 4 times lower than the US. As discussed in depth during the webinar, there has also been ~250% increase in GCCs in India in the last 10 years. India has also been attracting global unicorns, eight of which have already set up operations in India.

“Indo-US enjoys a comprehensive strategic partnership that cements cross-sectoral links between them. With the current trade of ~USD 142 million, the countries have complementary strengths and capabilities that can make the combined vision and ambition of USD 500 billion trade a reality. The liberalized atmosphere and large talent pool are attracting a lot of global companies, resulting in them moving their manufacturing units to India. I believe Indo-US trade will play an important role in boosting growth for industries in India,” said Dr. T. V. Nagendra Prasad, Consul General of India, San Francisco, at the Nexdigm webinar.

The webinar also highlighted that 43% of GCCs are singularly focused while 57% offer integrated services with a combination of IT, Business Processes, Engineering, and R&D from one cohesive center. A majority of GCCs in India are from sectors such as Software and IT, BFSI, Pharmaceuticals, Telecom, Electricals & Electronics, and Manufacturing. An interesting fact is that the Software plus Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance verticals account for almost 30% of the total installed talent base.

Mr. Peter Bendor-Samuel, Founder & CEO, Everest Group said, “India has executives who have a deep-root level of understanding and are capable of driving operations on their own. Backed with digital transformation, matured market conditions, and cost-saving business models along with immense range of services and capabilities, GCCs have opened a gateway for not only global firms but also smaller players in India. I think that’s really fuelling the next wave of growth and building investments in India due to the exhaustive ecosystem created by the government.”

“India as a country provides minimal business risk for companies due to suitable policy backing. Hence, I feel companies should not look at India as a makeshift set up but as a full-fledged business unit. Also, the talent here has exceptional leadership capabilities to lead strategic businesses, which enables companies to make collaborative investment in nurturing and building up right talent for future growth” said Mr. Jerry Kinnick, President, Continuum Global Solutions at the Nexdigm webinar.

The webinar also stated that the southern and western parts of India have been the primary locations for most GCC establishments. States such as Maharashtra, New Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana house the majority of Indian GCCs. However, northern India has also emerged as a promising location for GCCs in recent years.

The esteemed panelists at the webinar were Rajiv Kumar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Electronics & IT; Dr. T. V. Nagendra Prasad, Consul General of India, San Francisco; Peter Bendor-Samuel, Founder & CEO, Everest Group; Jerry Kinnick, President, Continuum Global Solutions; moderated by Marc Lessem, Senior Executive Director, Nexdigm, and Alpana Shirgaonkar, Executive Director, Business Process Management, Nexdigm. The webinar is a part of Nexdigm’s series – ‘Diversify to Differentiate – Think India, Think Next!’

This electric toothbrush and bristles are fully made up of antibacterial silicone that also ensures waterproofing.

Asus VivoBook 14 with AMD Ryzen 7 4700U is available for as low as ₹55,591 via Flipkart

4

The Taiwanese OEM is on a streak to bring a bunch of laptops in India with the latest AMD Ryzen 4000U APUs in India, has launched the likes of VivoBook S14 and VivoBook Flip 14, Asus has launched the new VivoBook 14 which is a cut-down version of the previous two laptops mentioned. However, the biggest positivity of the laptop is the price, at just ₹55,591 you are getting an eight-core Ryzen 7 4700U processor which is incredible value for the money.

Essentially, if you wanted to have a great budget laptop with a lot of horsepower, then this is it, a laptop with such specs at the pricing is just beyond expectation. It’s almost similar to both the VivoBook S14 and VivoBook Flip 14 in terms of design and builds while the display has been downgraded on this ASUS VivoBook 14 M413IA along with battery.

ASUS launches new Intel Tiger Lake powered VivoBook variants

It has almost the same chassis to the VivoBook Flip 14 that I own and features a 4-sided NanoEdge display with up to 85% screen-to-body ratio, exactly the same display cutout to the Flip 14. But, this FHD display has a brightness of only 200 nits but has an anti-glare screen, which is still good, however, this is not a laptop to carry outdoors, if you want one better go for the VivoBook S14 or ZenBook 14 and the color accuracy of 45% NTSC is low as well.

On the performance front, almost no compromise has been made compared to its costlier brothers as you get both the 6-core AMD Ryzen 5 4500U and 8-core AMD Ryzen 7 4700U processors, so if you are seeking performance this is what you need. Only the Ryzen 7 variant is spotted as for now, I hope soon the Ryzen 5 variant will also be available at less than Rs. 50k maybe.

Also, the RAM is similar to the VivoBook Flip 14 with 8 GB DDR4 3200MHz but when it comes to RAM upgradeability, it is soldered and there are no expansion slots much like the VivoBook S14 and ZenBook 14. However, for the price, you still get 512GB PCIe NVMe 3.0 x2 M.2 SSD along with one additional M.2 slot for storage expansion.

Asus VivoBook 14 with AMD Ryzen 7 4700U is available for as low as ₹55,591 via Flipkart

Much like the other VivoBooks mentioned earlier, this one too has the same full-size backlit keyboard with a colored Enter button and comes with 1.4mm key travel which is good enough for daily work. It weighs just 1.40 kg and is very sleek (19.1 mm) as well.

The laptop has a 42 Wh 3-cell lithium-polymer battery, similar to the VivoBook Flip 14 while a cut down to the VivoBook S14, but still good enough to last you for 5-6 hours with normal usage. The ASUS VivoBook 14 M413IA features a USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C and two USB 2.0 Type-A ports, an HDMI port, and even a microSD card slot. It features a 720p HD camera along with Intel WiFi 6 & Bluetooth 5.0 for connectivity.

Overall this laptop is a balanced budget laptop with the main focus remaining on the performance that it offers and the price at which it is coming in. The laptop is available in Bespoke Black / Dreamy White color variants on Flipkart for ₹55,591: http://fkrt.it/EnmBlCNNNN
